Through the course of the last few weeks, the Biden administration has sent a very clear and distinct message to Americans: If you are a person of faith, especially if you are Christian, you are not allowed to live that faith out in the public sphere.
Under Biden, if you take your faith seriously, and believe that human Life has inherent value, given by God, not only will your right to free exercise of religion not be protected, but the federal government will use its power and authority to target and punish you for standing up for your faith.
That is the clear and unmistakable message that an 84-year-old Pro-Life woman received when she was shot this week while advocating for Life door-to-door and her attempted murderer has yet to receive ANY repercussions.
That is the distinct and resounding message Pro-Lifer Mark Houck, his wife, and his seven young children received when twenty plus armed FBI agents raided his home to arrest him for charges that had long since been dropped by local authorities.
That is the message that the entire nation, including the over 74 million Americans who voted for Trump in 2020, received when Biden stood before the blood-red Independence Hall and proclaimed that all “MAGA Republicans represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our republic.”
Standing upon the steps of Independence Hall, eerily shrouded in shadow, Biden declared war on “MAGA Republicans,” shouting that “MAGA Republicans do not respect the Constitution. They do not believe in the rule of law. They do not recognize the will of the people.”
Who are these so-called MAGA Republicans? Biden made himself very clear, when he said, “MAGA forces are determined to take this country backwards — backwards to an America where there is no right to choose, no right to privacy, no right to contraception, no right to marry who you love.”
Though Biden calls himself a Catholic, he regularly places himself squarely opposite many of the most fundamental Catholic moral teachings, most especially on the Right to Life.
The truth is that Biden doesn’t mind you having a religion or faith, he just doesn’t want it to alter or in any way influence your actions.
How else could he reconcile defending the killing of babies through abortion on his way out from church, still marked with an ashen cross, as he did this past Ash Wednesday?
Biden loves to be photographed leaving church, or occasionally holding a rosary. Yet, in Biden’s view, religion is little else than a tool, to be used every once in a while, but otherwise just kept in the shed – or in this case the church.
To Biden, there is no room for faith in the public sphere, and most certainly not in politics.
Are you a Christian who believes your faith should form your life and entire worldview?
Are you a person of faith who believes unborn children have a fundamental right to live and should not be ripped apart limb from limb in the womb?
Are you someone who believes women should be offered life-affirming support and care and not be pressured to abort their preborn babies?
If you are any one of these then means you disagree with Biden, thus making you a “MAGA Republican,” meaning you “represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our republic.”
When you represent such an extreme threat, then the government is justified in using its full power to crush you. The government can look the other way when pregnancy resource centers and churches across the country are fire-bombed, robbed, and vandalized.
Biden’s declaration of war and his administration’s actions send a clear warning to Pro-Life Americans of faith. When faith is seen as an assault on democracy then the words “it is within our power, it’s in our hands — yours and mine — to stop the assault on American democracy,” take on a very dark meaning.
As Christians who believe in the Word of God and in the dignity and value of the human person, we cannot allow ourselves to be intimidated. We cannot shy from the continued and growing attacks from the abortion industry and anti-Life politicians. We must work harder than ever to stand up for our faith, against Biden’s tyranny, to defend the most innocent and vulnerable.
