Biden Promotes Abortion on Ash Wednesday

Today Joe Biden advocated for abortion with ashes still on his forehead from Ash Wednesday services.

A reporter confronted Biden outside the White House, asking, “as a Catholic, why do you support abortion, as a Catholic, defying church teachings?”

Biden leaned in and began responding, “I don’t want to get in a debate with you on theology, but you know…” Before Biden finished, his wife Jill Biden approached placing a hand on him. Biden then continued, saying, “well anyway, I’m not going to make a judgement for other people.”

The reporter persisted, “but you’re Catholic.” Biden only continued to brush off the question, repeating, “I’m not going to make a judgement for other people.”

Catholic teaching clearly states that “abortion willed either as an end or a means, is gravely contrary to the moral law.” (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 2271)

Despite the Catholic Church’s unequivocal condemnation of the practice of abortion, Biden claims to be a “good Catholic,” while openly promoting abortion and consistently attacking Pro-Life laws.

The reporter’s confused query, “but you’re Catholic,” voices the confusion of all practicing Catholics and Christians. The cognitive dissonance of Biden’s claims to be both a loyal Catholic and an abortion advocate has never been in fuller display than today.

Just last night, in his State of the Union address, Biden stated, “advancing liberty and justice also requires protecting the rights of women, the constitutional right (to abortion) affirmed by Roe v. Wade.”

Catholics and many Christians, gather on Ash Wednesday to be marked with a cross of ashes on their foreheads. In receiving the ashes, Catholics are reminded of scripture, “you are dust, and to dust you shall return.”

The ashen cross reminds Christians that they will one day meet God and face eternal judgement for their actions.

Yet, today Biden blatantly promoted abortion with the ashen cross still fresh on his forehead.

Addressing Biden last year, Bishop Strickland of the Catholic Diocese of Tyler, stated, “You claim to be Catholic but you obviously are ignoring the basic teachings of the Catholic faith. Please make a decision to either follow Catholic teaching or stop claiming to be Catholic.”
