Planned Parenthood personnel were caught admitting, “We specialize in abortion” and “we only do ultrasounds if you are terminating.” The admissions appear in Live Actions new video “Ultrasounds Only for Abortions at Planned Parenthood.” With the threat of defunding looming, Planned Parenthood has doubled down on the myth that abortion mills provide comprehensive healthcare for women. Live Action’s investigation shows the blatant falsehood of Planned Parenthood’s claim.
For the investigation, women posing as potential clients of America’s largest abortion business recorded calls with Planned Parenthood during which they tried to schedule ultrasounds. The calls were to Planned Parenthood affiliates in many different states. Callers asked a variety of questions, gave different stories, and pressed for details. The overwhelming response was: if you are not coming to Planned Parenthood for an abortion, you will not get an ultrasound.
In the usual obfuscation of the abortion industry, Planned Parenthood employees continually refer to the preborn baby as “the pregnancy,” saying that they cannot determine anything about the “health of the pregnancy” or gender of the pregnancy. Any five-year-old will tell you a “pregnancy” is not a boy or a girl; a baby is a girl or boy. Obviously, the women are trying to schedule an appointment to learn more about their preborn baby. Planned Parenthood’s resounding response? If you don’t want to end the Life of your preborn child, we have nothing to offer you.
In a second video released by Live Action as part of the investigation, two former managers of Planned Parenthood affiliates reveal more about the abortion business model. Sue Thayer describes when she was still working at Planned Parenthood and the facility purchased a new ultrasound machine. She knew that women at Planned Parenthood would never receive pictures of their ultrasounds or even see the screen during the ultrasound, because the state-of-the-art machine would only be used for abortions.
Ramona Treviño states that there were no trained ultrasound technicians at the Planned Parenthood facility, because the machine was only used for abortions. Not only were ultrasounds not given to women who chose Life, but Treviño reveals that the abortion mill was unable to diagnose health conditions that required the use of an ultrasound. This fact further undercuts Planned Parenthood’s posturing as a health clinic when in reality they are a business focused on abortion.
Many commenters on Live Action’s Facebook page shared stories about the absence of prenatal care and ultrasounds at Planned Parenthood’s “comprehensive” abortion mills. Blogger Kaitlyn Heyd confirms Thayer’s description. She writes that the abortion workers “turned the screen away so I couldn’t see my baby” when she chose to undergo an abortion.
The results of Live Action’s latest investigation is not surprising to people who know how Planned Parenthood works. While their abortion numbers remain high, all other services are plummeting. We already knew that they never offered mammograms, but now even STD testing, cancer screenings, and other services are dwindling. Now, we are more aware than ever that Planned Parenthood does not offer prenatal care and they emphatically do not offer ultrasounds.
Ultrasounds are essential to informed consent in an abortion decision. If a woman does not know the extent of her baby’s development how can anyone say she has all the information needed to decide to end the Life of her child?
