Harrison Butker, Super Bowl-winning kicker for the Kansas City Chiefs, is an unwavering Pro-Life Christian. Throughout the years he has publicly stood for Life and the Gospel. From encouraging college graduates to start families, to speaking about his faith in a multitude of interviews, Butker is always giving God the glory.
At the Chiefs’ White House visit this past Monday, he made another declaration of faith and Life, through just a tie and gold pin.
His tie had the Latin term “Vulnerari Praesido” in cursive writing all over it, meaning “Protect the most vulnerable.” The gold pin resembled baby feet, representing the actual size of a child’s feet at 10 weeks in the womb.
The subtle yet powerful additions to his outfit sent a clear message to the Biden administration, without him having to say a word.

“I want to give the most vulnerable, the unborn, a voice at a place where every effort has been made to allow and normalize the tragic termination of their lives,” Butker said in a statement to The Daily Signal. “As a father who has experienced three miscarriages, my wife and I understand the hardships that come with losing a child. Every life is precious and should be valued whether outside or inside the womb.“
Butker, a deeply devoted Catholic, has recently expressed his belief that his purpose on Earth is to strive for Heaven.
“I’m not just making kicks so that I can make money and I can puff myself up as this great person that people want to be like one day,” he said in a February interview with EWTN News In Depth’s Colm Flynn. “I’m making kicks because God wants me to have a platform, at least for right now, to share this message of faith, of growing in virtue, of growing closer to the sacraments and of being a saint.”
Butker played an integral role in the recent NFL season, leaving a significant impact.
In the final moments of Super Bowl LVII against the Philadelphia Eagles, the Chiefs found themselves with excellent field position. It was Butker who confidently sent the ball straight through the uprights, securing a 38-35 victory for his team.
In the Chiefs’ triumphant Super Bowl LIV win in 2019 against the San Francisco 49ers, Butker remained a part of the team. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they were unable to visit the White House that year.
Having entered the NFL in 2017 as the Carolina Panthers’ seventh-round pick from Georgia Tech, Butker later joined the Chiefs. Since then, he has maintained his position as the team’s placekicker, demonstrating unwavering consistency.
His dedication to spreading the message of faith has caused significant attention. Even amidst his remarkable football achievements, Butker has consistently proclaimed the Gospel throughout his entire career, establishing himself as one of the NFL’s most outspoken Christian athletes.
Thanks to Harrison Butker, the phrase “Vulnerari Praesido” is now flooding the internet. It is undeniable that his impactful messages will continue to be heard worldwide, contributing to the triumph of the Kingdom of God!
