Story of Baby Wren

A sweet one-month-old girl named Wren was admitted to a North Texas hospital after having complications during birth in the Spring of 2025.

The hospital informed her family that a committee would decide whether or not to remove her ventilator against her parents’ wishes. If the committee sided with the hospital, Baby Wren would only have 25 days left to live.

(This is legal under the horrible Texas 25-Day Rule.)

Wren was on an oscillator (a ventilator designed for infants), and her treatment was working.

If the hospital could or would not continue providing the care Baby Wren needs, the answer is not to cut her life short. Instead, the hospital should honor her parents’ wishes and send her to a different medical facility willing to care for her.

Baby Wren’s family contacted Texas Right to Life for help. Texas Right to Life’s patient advocates Our team drove to the hospital’s ethics committee meeting to help fight for Wren’s life.

After the meeting, the hospital opted to hold off on starting the 25-day countdown on Wren’s treatment. They provided an extra 14 days to secure a transfer for Wren, and scheduled a new meeting to make a final decision.

Tragically, Baby Wren passed away on Good Friday.

We are thankful that Wren passed away in God’s timing rather than having her life cut short by a hospital committee, but that does not lessen this tragic and sudden loss.

Please join us in our continued prayers for Wren’s family, especially her parents, as they grieve over their beautiful baby girl.
