NFL Quarterback Welcomes 10th Baby to the Family, “A Miracle Every Time”

NFL quarterback Philip Rivers announced the arrival of his 10th child with his wife, Tiffany.

The retired football star welcomed his son Andrew Joseph Rivers on October 30.

“It’s awesome. Tiffany is awesome,” he told AL.com. “It doesn’t matter if it’s the first child or the 10th child. It’s an awesome miracle every time. Everyone is home now, and everyone is good.”

The Rivers team now has seven girls — Anna, 4, Clare, 8, Rebecca, 10, Sarah,14, Grace, 17, Caroline, 18, and Halle, 21 — and three boys — Andrew, Peter, 13, and Gunner, 15.

His oldest son, Gunner, appears to be following in his footsteps, serving as the quarterback on St. Michael Catholic’s freshman football team in Fairhope, Alabama, where Rivers coaches.

“There is a chance for a Rivers to be throwing it around or catching it or tackling or doing something for the Cardinals for a long time,” he added.

Reflecting on his family roots, Rivers revealed that both his parents hailed from large families, with each having nine siblings.

“We thought we would be the third generation of nine, but we decided to go double digits – or I should say we didn’t decide it. God decided,” he explained.

Rivers, known for his remarkable 16-year stint with the San Diego Chargers and his final season with the Indianapolis Colts in 2021, carried his faith with him into his new chapter of life after the NFL.

A devout Catholic, Rivers, in his retirement statement, paid tribute to his beliefs: “Every year, January 20th is a special and emotional day. It is St. Sebastian’s Feast day, the day I played in the AFC championship without an ACL, and now the day that after 17 seasons, I’m announcing my retirement from the National Football League.”

“Thank you, God, for allowing me to live out my childhood dream of playing quarterback in the NFL.”

Beyond his achievements on the football field, Rivers has been an ardent supporter of foster children and preborn babies.

He previously spearheaded the Rivers of Hope Foundation, a charity dedicated to aiding foster families. The quarterback reflected, “Every life is precious. And also those unwanted are the unborn. Our foundation expands the culture of life to crisis pregnancy centers. There’s a mission to protect the unwanted and abandoned. It’s all intertwined.”

Beyond throwing touchdown passes or leading teams to championships, Rivers’ legacy is marked most by his faith and family.
