A new Harvard CAPS/Harris poll found that only 6% of Americans believe abortions should be legal “up until the birth of the child,” and only 8% believe abortions should be legal during the third trimester.
A plurality — 41% — said abortions should be legal only in cases of rape or incest. 29% said they should be legal until the end of the first trimester, and 17% of Americans want abortion legal until the second trimester.
Despite all of this, every major Democratic presidential candidate has endorsed government-funded, elective abortions for any reason up to the point of birth, and states like New York and others have passed some of the most barbaric abortion laws in the world.
The Democratic Party Platform now enshrines judicial protection of abortion and Roe v. Wade. Some have even said that you have to support Roe v. Wade to be a Democrat!
This attitude is a slap in the face to Pro-Life Democrats across America who feel alienated by a national party which increasingly caters to the abortion lobby.
The same Harvard poll also found that this radically anti-Life attitude is out of step with most Americans. When respondents were asked to weigh in on Roe v. Wade, more than 50% of Americans were unhappy with the terrible decision: 36% said the Supreme Court should modify that ruling, and 18% believed Roe v. Wade should be overturned altogether.
The mainstream media can play this poll as an anti-Life victory all they want, but less than half of Americans support the injustice that is Roe v. Wade.
However, this number is still far too high, which is why Pro-Life people across America, on both sides of the aisle, must fight until Roe v. Wade is overturned. We must convert our nation from a culture of death to a Culture of Life.
