Hegseth Reveals He Wants to End Military-Funded Abortion

“I’ve always been personally Pro-Life…” Pete Hegseth proclaimed at his confirmation hearing last week.

Pete Hegseth, President Donald Trump’s choice to lead the Defense Department, attended his confirmation hearing on January 14. During these hearings, a committee asks questions to determine if the nominee is qualified and trustworthy for their position. For over four hours, Hegseth answered various questions, including whether the military should pay for travel related to abortions.

As of right now, a military servicewoman or a qualifying dependent can abort their precious baby on taxpayers’ dime.

Hawaiian Senator Hirono questioned his thoughts on this policy, saying, “Current GOP Policy allows servicemembers and eligible dependents to be reimbursed for travel associated with non-covered reproductive healthcare, including abortions. Will you maintain this common-sense policy?”

“Senator, I’ve always been personally Pro-Life, I know President Trump has as well; we will review all policies but our standard is whatever the president wants on this particular issue, with my advice, I will take a look at but-”

Interrupting his statement, Hirono concluded, “Okay so um, haha, if the president tells you that this common-sense policy will not be maintained, you will not enable our service members to seek reproductive care. That’s what it sounds like to me. I’m not hearing answers to my questions.”

“I don’t think that the federal government should be funding travel for abortion,” Hegseth confirmed.

President Trump earned an incredible Pro-Life record in his first term but later pledged to veto a national abortion ban on the 2024 campaign trail. Still, Trump has the opportunity to use his position to protect babies from abortion. This includes placing Pro-Life officials around him who will influence his decision-making.

Hegseth highlighted that when he and President Trump look over defense policies, he will give his advice to remove federally funded abortion travel for the military. This is huge!

This policy currently allows service members, including those stationed in Texas, to be reimbursed for abortion travel, with up to 21 days of leave.

Join us in prayer, asking the Lord to guide Pete Hegseth in his efforts to end military-funded abortion travel.
