California Considers Bill to Allow Unsupervised Abortions

Last week the state of California introduced a bill to allow nurses and midwives to commit abortions with no supervision from a doctor. The bill in consideration would remove the requirement that a physician be present during an abortion.

The purpose of this bill, as explained by California lawmakers, is to increase the number of abortions that can be committed in California.

“As states like Texas and others start to restrict further abortion, it just makes sense that women are going to find other places to go. California will be one of those states,” said the bill’s author.

Many, including this California lawmaker, have begun to point to Texas as an example of what a post-abortion world will look like.

The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) found that abortions in the state dropped 60% in the first month of the Texas Heartbeat Act being in effect. Estimates based off of the data from the HHSC posit that over 18,000 abortions have been stopped due to the Texas Heartbeat Act.

The Supreme Court is currently deliberating over Dobbs v. Jackson, a case that could weaken or overturn Roe v. Wade. Both sides of the abortion debate believe the end of national abortion mandated by Roe is very near.

When Roe is overturned 26 states are expected to defend Life by banning all abortions. Once Roe is overturned, Texas laws will defend all human Life throughout pregnancy.

California, on the other hand, has vowed to become a “sanctuary state for abortion.” California’s governor, Gavin Newsom, has expressed his intention to use taxpayer dollars to fund abortions, as well as pay for travel expenses, lodging, and per diem for those coming from other states for abortion.

California has enshrined abortion atop their state law and legislators continue to promise ever more radical abortion policies. Many lawmakers hope to build a disgusting and bloody “abortion tourism” industry in California.

California first began allowing nurses and midwives to commit abortions with supervision in 2013. Now, hoping to become an abortion mecca, California is pushing to strip the supervision requirement to encourage ever more abortions.

Though Texas is currently on the right track of defending human Life and ending abortion, Texans are not impervious to radical abortion ideology. Many Texas politicians are certain to fight to continue the killing of preborn babies through abortion. Pro-Life Texans must remain active and vigilant in defense of the preborn and vulnerable.
