David Daleiden and Sandra Merritt, the citizen journalists with the Center for Medical progress, are facing 15 felony charges in California. The pair recorded undercover video of conversations with several high-ranking Planned Parenthood executives discussing illegal alteration of abortion procedures and the harvesting and trafficking of baby body parts for profit.
California Attorney General Xavier Becerra claims the charges are based on the right to privacy. He said, “We will not tolerate the criminal recording of confidential conversations.” In this absurd miscarriage of justice, the shocking and inhumane crimes uncovered by the citizen journalists are ignored, while the whistleblowers are facing more than a dozen felony charges.
This is not the first time Daleiden and Merritt have faced such charges. Last year, disgraced former-District Attorney Devon Anderson of Harris County, Texas, filed similar felony charges. The charges were eventually dismissed, but the proceedings remain a stain on Houston’s record.
Daleiden addressed the most recent charges in a statement, saying:
The bogus charges from Planned Parenthood’s political cronies are fake news. They tried the same collusion with corrupt officials in Houston, TX and failed: both the charges and the DA were thrown out. The public knows the real criminals are Planned Parenthood and their business partners like StemExpress and DV Biologics—currently being prosecuted in California—who have harvested and sold aborted baby body parts for profit for years in direct violation of state and federal law. We look forward to showing the entire world what is on our yet-unreleased video tapes of Planned Parenthood’s criminal baby body parts enterprise, in vindication of the First Amendment rights of all.

This morning, the Center for Medical progress released yet another video showing a top Planned Parenthood abortionist discussing illegal activity.
Texas Right to Life hopes the most recent video garners the national media attention such evidence should. The anti-Life collusion in California is a miscarriage of justice that distracts from the real criminals. Recording exposé video is consistent with journalism ethics and free speech rights. The public has a right to know about rampant illegal activity at a taxpayer funded organization like Planned Parenthood.
