Abilene citizens have the opportunity to make their city a Sanctuary for the Unborn this November.
The ordinance, included as Proposition B on the ballot, doubles down on our state laws protecting all preborn children from the moment of fertilization. While elective abortion is prohibited throughout Texas, the Sanctuary City for the Unborn ordinance provides even more legal tools to ensure:
- preborn children are spared from abortion in the city of Abilene,
- abortion providers are blocked from setting up shop within city limits, and
- that if they violate the law, abortionists are held accountable.
But in order to pass, YOU must vote FOR Proposition B!
Recently there have been false concerns raised about the ordinance, and Texas’ life-saving laws generally, by some Abilene residents. But the truth is, both current Texas Pro-Life laws and the ordinance prohibit abortion from the moment of fertilization, with the only exception for when the life of the mother is in danger. Miscarriage treatment and treatment for ectopic pregnancies are NOT considered abortion under Texas law, and thus their treatment is not impacted by our state ban on elective abortion.
Find out more about the ordinance and how to ensure this important proposition passes by attending “Pro-Life Abilene”, a panel discussion on Abilene’s Sanctuary City for the Unborn ordinance. The panel will be this Sunday, October 23, from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at Fountaingate Fellowship Church in Abilene, TX.
What: Pro-Life Abilene Panel
When: Sunday, October 23rd at 6:30-8:30pm
Where: 909 N. Willis St., Fountaingate Fellowship Church in Abilene, TX
Our state law and the ordinance are very clear about caring for a pregnant mother when her life is in danger. She does NOT have to be in imminent danger of death for such life-saving care to be provided.
Texas Pro-Life policy is clear – we want to protect BOTH the mother and the preborn child. The goal of elective abortion is ending that preborn child’s life. Treatment for miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, or life of the mother situations have a very different end goal. When delay in treatment for these situations is occurring, it is not because of a lack of clarity in the law or in the ordinance. It is attributable to medical and hospital lobbying organizations failing in their responsibility to inform their doctors and facilities about what Texas Pro-Life law says and how to properly apply it to their patients.
Early Voting is October 24 – November 4, and Election Day is November 8. Make sure to vote FOR Proposition B, making Abilene a Sanctuary City for the Unborn! View the Pro-Life Voter Guide here.
