Actress Mila Kunis admitted she was totally unaware of Pro-Life opposition to America’s largest abortion business, Planned Parenthood, until people made donations to Pro-Life organizations in her name.
As Katie Yoder of Newsbusters reports, following Kunis’s appearance on the WTF with Marc Maron podcast, media focused on the actress’s comments about President Trump. However, her comments reveal a lot about the anti-Life culture in Hollywood and the surprising ignorance of elites promoting abortion. The discussion of Planned Parenthood arose when the host Maron asked Kunis about her highly publicized donations to Planned Parenthood abortion business.
Last year, Kunis bragged in a television appearance about donating to Planned Parenthood in the name of Pro-Life Vice President Mike Pence as a form of “protest.” She said she setup a recurring donation so that Planned Parenthood will routinely send a notice to Pence’s office thanking him. Kunis told Maron that she continues to donate to Planned Parenthood saying, “It’s not that big of a deal. I thought it was a funny joke. I was going to always donate to Planned Parenthood anyways.”
She did acknowledge that much of the American public did not think her “joke” was funny. She described the reaction of Pro-Life activists, whom she apparently did not realize exist. She told Maron,
So there’s an address that was listed online that’s not necessarily my personal address, but it’s listed as if it’s my personal address. So then people started giving donations to the opposing side, which I didn’t even know that there was one. Okay, I don’t want to promote it, whatever it is.
Many Pro-Life organizations benefited from Kunis’s ignorant comments. The Pro-Life group Susan B. Anthony List, for example, received hundreds of thousands of dollars after Kunis’s television appearance. And they were not the only one. Following her appearance, Pro-Lifers urged others to donate to a long list of worthy Pro-Life groups. Kunis told Maron “thousands of envelopes daily would come” informing her of donations to Pro-Life organizations.
Stunned by the existence of committed Pro-Lifers, Kunis said, “In return, I was like, at least I’m proud of people for putting their money where their mouth is.” She explained to Maron, “So like, okay, donate to your cause. If you really want this one thing to succeed, go ahead. I’m not mad at it. I was, you know, actually pretty impressed with people trying to like get one on top of me.”
Maron, a fellow supporter of Planned Parenthood, said, “That side [Pro-Life] is really good at spiteful, grassroot organizing.” Kunis responded, “Well, yeah, exactly. Yes, as we all know.” This is an odd assessment given that Kunis started the controversy by facetiously donating in the name of the Vice President of the United States to an organization that ends the lives of more than 320,000 preborn babies each year.
Listening to Kunis’s total ignorance of the extensive grassroots movement in defense of innocent human Life reveals just how blindly Hollywood promotes abortion. This explains why Pro-Life movies face so many hurdles in production and why Pro-Life celebrities are rarely heard. In the age of social media, Pro-Life activism is becoming harder to ignore. Hopefully soon even anti-Life actresses will know that millions of Americans oppose Planned Parenthood for good reason.
