Woman Loses Four Limbs After Botched Abortion

“I was massacred,” a French woman said after losing all four limbs due to a botched abortion.

Priscilla Dray, who was 35 at the time, acquired a severe staph infection after the killing of her child, but when she went into the hospital due to pain, no one would believe her.

Sud Ouest reported that the day after undergoing the abortion in 2011, Dray went to the emergency room at the hospital “suffering from fatigue and fever,” but was sent home without antibiotics. Her second hospital experience was even more chilling, resulting in legal action for “unintentional injuries.”

By the time Priscilla returned to the hospital two days after the abortion, her condition had become critical. “My legs felt like pieces of wood,” she recalled in court this week. She was admitted to the emergency room, where her primary care doctor had already recommended antibiotics. However, despite her arrival at noon, it took nearly five hours for her to receive the medication. By then, the damage was done. A severe staph infection had taken hold, leading to an emergency amputation just one month later.

“They didn’t believe me, I had to beg. They took me for a bourgeois woman who was putting on a show,” Dray told the judges.

Reports indicate that on the night of July 24, Dray’s chances of survival had dropped to just 5% as her health rapidly declined. Shortly after, she underwent amputations of both legs, her right forearm, and her left hand.

“I trusted and this is the state they put me in,” Dray said to France 3.

How many more women must endure the agony of abortion before the world admits the truth? The media insists abortion is “safe” and “healthy,” yet stories like Priscilla’s reveal a far darker reality. Beyond the physical risks to the mother—hemorrhaging, infections, and even death—studies show that abortion increases the risk of social phobia by 61% and suicidal thoughts by 59%.

Priscilla’s story isn’t just a tragedy—it’s a wake-up call. Women and babies deserve better than abortion. They deserve real health care, real support, and real choices that affirm both their lives and the lives of their children.

The question remains: When will the world stop ignoring the suffering caused by abortion?

Unfortunately, this story is not unique to France. Texas women are still being harmed by lethal abortion pills and out-of-state abortions every day. Last year a reported 30,000 Texan babies were killed.

However, we have the chance to pass laws that will save preborn babies and their mothers from the horrors of abortion. Texas Right to Life is currently in the Capitol working with your lawmakers to pass the following bills:

  • The Woman and Child Protection Act: If passed, this will adopt tools to target illegal abortion pill websites, distributors, and accomplices (bill numbers forthcoming).
  • Stop Tax-Funded Abortion Services: This will block local governments from spending taxpayer money on abortion expenses (SB 730 by Senator Donna Campbell & HB 1806 by Representative Candy Noble).

Join us in prayer for Priscilla Dray, that the Lord will lead her to repentance and forgiveness through his son Jesus Christ. If you or someone you know is pregnant and needs resources: Click here.
