Last week, the House Committee on State Affairs convened to hear testimony on two fake Pro-Life bills. Yet, the hearing morphed into a coordinated attack on Texas Right to Life by members of the committee and small interest groups.
These antics are intended to discredit and dismiss years of Texas Right to Life’s experience in assisting patients and families to navigate the laborious, bureaucratic transfer process. While the political sporting was underway, the committee failed to address the problematic language in these bills.
House Bills 2351 and 3130 offer no Pro-Life advancements. In fact, HB 2351 furthers the possibility of discrimination against patients, and HB 3130 closes no loopholes in reforming insurance coverage for abortion.
