Trump Expands IVF–What Now?

President Trump signed an executive order expanding IVF. While this decision may help some couples conceive, it could lead to the loss of millions more unborn babies.

“The Order directs policy recommendations to protect IVF access and aggressively reduce out-of-pocket and health plan costs for such treatments,” Karoline Leavitt, Trump’s Press Secretary stated on X

However, many Christians and Pro-Life advocates warn that this policy contradicts the fundamental belief that Life begins at fertilization.

Seth Gruber, founder of the White Rose Resistance, highlighted the uncomfortable truth: IVF provides people the opportunity to discard multiple babies to hopefully get one.

How IVF Works—And Why It Raises Concerns

Ultimately, the goal of IVF is to create and birth a healthy child. However, the standard industry practices destroy substantially more humans than are born. To provide the best opportunities to have the desired child, fertility specialists create several embryos. These embryos are filtered or “funneled” through a screening to find the strongest few for implantation. The embryos who don’t pass the test will likely be frozen indefinitely, trashed, or donated for experimentation.

This process challenges a key Pro-Life principle: that Life begins at fertilization and every human being—born or unborn—has inherent value. If an embryo in the womb is a person worthy of protection, the same should apply to embryos created through IVF. Treating them as disposable undermines this belief.

What’s Next?

According to the executive order, Trump’s administration will develop policy recommendations within 90 days to expand IVF access while reducing costs. “Many hopeful couples dream of starting a family, but as many as one in seven are unable to conceive a child,” the order states. “Infertility struggles can make conception difficult, turning what should be a joyful experience into an emotional and financial struggle.”

In response to concerns from religious Americans, a White House official told The Daily Wire that the policy recommendations will involve input from various stakeholders, including Pro-Life groups. Trump has also expressed openness to religious exemptions, telling EWTN’s Raymond Arroyo in October, “It sounds, to me, like a pretty good idea, frankly.”

Now more than ever, it is time to raise our voices about the moral issues of IVF. We love Life, but the Pro-Life movement’s goal is not to simply increase the number of children born. We aim to protect innocent lives from practices like abortion and euthanasia, which involve the sanctioned killing of any human beings.

Current IVF standards doom countless preborn babies to death, highlighting a critical need for life-saving reform and regulation, not increased accessibility. Share this article with your friends and family to spread the word.
