Earlier this year there was a powerful movement in the UK to clarify explicitly the government’s law regarding sex-selective abortion and to help women who are pressured to have sons and not daughters. As one UK campaigner against gendercide explains in the video below, this bias among certain ethnic groups in the UK is caused by the notion that having a son gives a mother elevated status in the community, while having a daughter does not. Other campaigners, who work with maternal victims of male child preference, recount stories of violence committed against mothers who carry preborn daughters instead of coveted sons.
The United States should take notes on the anti-gendercide work of UK campaigners, such as members of Stop Gendercide. Although the amendment Stop Gendercide promoted lost in a parliamentary vote, the group of volunteers continues to raise awareness of the disturbing issue of sex-selective abortion. Not only does British law already prohibit sex-selective abortion (although this has been contradicted by influential groups advocating abortion); Pro-Lifers in the UK are simultaneously working tirelessly to clarify this law and improve education about gender equality for everyone in the UK.
In the U.S., on the other hand, federal law does not prohibit sex-selection abortion, and only a handful of states (not including Texas) have instated protections for preborn girls. And both Planned Parenthood and the Obama Administration actively oppose such protection from spreading across the country.
Planned Parenthood, in fact, audaciously insists that their behemoth abortion business will carry out the deaths of as many preborn children as state laws allow, stating that they would not turn down an abortion request unless they were prohibited by state law from doing so. Back in 2012, Texas Right to Life Executive Director Jim Graham shared the following quote regarding Planned Parenthood’s stance on sex-selective abortion:
“…no Planned Parenthood clinic will deny a woman an abortion based on her reasons for wanting one, except in those states that explicitly prohibit sex-selective abortions (Arizona, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, and Illinois).”
Planned Parenthood has been known to defend even more shocking practices, such as leaving a baby born alive after an abortion to die on a table without care. Thinking people call that infanticide. And in states like Texas, where there is no law prohibiting the practice of sex-selection, Planned Parenthood does commit gendercide abortions on-demand. As long as a mother can foot the abortion bill, Planned Parenthood will deliver, as the following undercover investigation from Live Action discovered in Austin:
