A Pro-Life song told from the perspective of an aborted baby girl has skyrocketed to number one on the iTunes Country Music Video charts and broken into the top five for country songs!
On June 21st, right before the second anniversary of Roe v. Wade overturning, Rachel Holt released her newest single, “I Was Gonna Be.”
And all I wanted was a chance
To learn to love and laugh and dance
Oh but I was gone before I arrived
Sent back to Heaven on a starlight flight
Yeah I was gonna change the world
And I was gonna be a girl
First thing I was gonna do
Was breathe and fall in love with you
But a couple weeks before I saw the light
Mine flickered out when you changed your mind
This tender song was written by well-known songwriter, Chris Wallen. He has previously worked with country superstars like Garth Brooks, Brad Paisley, and Kenny Chesney. “I started writing this song for myself. I didn’t think anyone would have the courage to sing this,” Wallen told Breitbart News Daily. “I just wanted people to hear the voice of the voiceless,” he said.
However, after meeting Rachel Holt and showing her the song, she fearlessly offered to sing it, despite being warned about potential backlash. Holding a strong Pro-Life stance and traditional values, Holt shared with Breitbart that she feels that girls her age do not listen to songs about “real life.” Wallen’s song offered an authentic perspective on real-life issues and people.

After hearing the song, Patriot Mobile couldn’t help but step up as a sponsor. “We got a call about this Pro-Life song needing a promotional sponsor and it aligned perfectly with our beliefs about the sanctity of life,” Glenn Story, Patriot Mobile’s CEO, said in a press release. “It’s really a beautiful song and we need more conservative messaging in the arts as the music industry is a very important part of today’s culture war.”
This song has already moved the hearts of many people. On an Instagram post announcing the song’s release, many expressed their gratitude for the message.
One commenter said, “If you’re thinking about an abortion, listen to this song…play it on repeat. Have your child, then listen again. You’ll be so proud of the decision you made.”
Another man thanked Holt, commenting, “Thank you for this song. You made a grown man cry. God Bless!”
One commenter even said, “Most important song of our generation. Thank you for singing it.”
Some don’t believe I’m a living soul
Just a bad mistake that needs to go
If my mama coulda just seen my face
Maybe she woulda had me anyway
We commend Wallen and Holt for their bravery in fighting for the unborn through their God-given talent: music.
