The Senate has passed eight Pro-Life measures, including both Pro-Life Priorities, while the House has passed three Pro-Life bills. Meanwhile, an estimated 30,000 preborn Texans are still being killed by abortion each year. This continues due to lethal abortion pills being mailed into Texas and cities like Austin and San Antonio using taxpayer dollars to fund abortion travel. The House must act quickly to save Texas babies before time runs out.
Here is where each Pro-Life bill currently stands in the legislative process.
Pro-Life Priority Bills |
---|
1. Woman and Child Protection Act (WCPA) ❌ SB 2880 by Sen. Hughes (HB 5510 by Rep. Leach): Died after Chairman King refused to vote out SB 2880 until it was too late for the measure to make it to the House floor Texas’ biggest Pro-Life battle is against abortion pills—around 19,000 annually. The WCPA will expand the Texas Heartbeat Act’s civil enforcement mechanism to target distributors. This proven legal tool, which provided the strongest protections for preborn children, must now be broadened to stop illegal abortion pill trafficking. This bill will also allow women or their families to bring wrongful death lawsuits on her behalf if she is harmed by an abortion. |
2. Stop Tax-Funded Abortion Travel Act ✔️ SB 33 by Sen. Campbell (HB 1806 by Rep. Noble): Passed House & headed to the Governor to be signed into law. The cities of Austin and San Antonio are spending Texan’s tax dollars on abortion travel. This bill would block Texas cities from this horrendous action of giving tax money to abortion assistance organizations. |
State representatives must co-author both of these bills to help get them across the finish line!
