This week, a preborn child practiced his clapping skills in the womb while his mom and doctor were watching via ultrasound. Jen Cardinal, the baby’s mom, posted a video of the incredible capture online Thursday saying, “At our 14 week ultrasound our baby was clapping, so I sang a song with our doctor as my husband filmed. The experience is one I’ll never forget. The baby clapped three times, and then the doctor rewound and scrubbed it while we sang. No mystery. It was amazing.”
Of course, the song of choice was, “If You’re Happy and You Know It.”
LifeNews has reported on several recent studies that reveal the incredible cognitive and behavioral abilities of preborn children:
‘Infant Behavior and Development’ showed that babies in the womb can recognize words and even remember nursery rhymes if their mom repeats them between weeks 28 and 34… Another study published in theFebruary 2014 Pediatrics suggested that the more words a preterm baby hears while in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), the more they respond with sounds of their own.
Ultrasound technology never ceases to amaze us by providing a glimpse into the womb and revealing an incredible, developing preborn child. The baby in the video above came into existence only 12 short weeks ago – when the rest of us were celebrating the Christmas season. As the star of the show, this baby has already transformed from a microscopic, two-cell being into a little clapping sensation. He or she is still so small that the movements are likely not even noticeable to the mother, but ultrasound proves that some incredible feats are happening in the tiny habitat of the womb.
