Two weeks ago, Texas Right to Life reported on a new, special Congressional committee that has been commissioned to investigate Planned Parenthood at the federal level. The committee is tasked with getting to the bottom of Planned Parenthood’s law-thwarting behavior and discerning whether federal funds should continue to be funneled to America’s biggest abortion conglomerate.
Then-Speaker John Boehner appointed an all-star Republican lineup to the committee, saying: “Chairman Blackburn and our members will have the resources and the subpoena power to get to the bottom of these horrific practices, and build on our work to protect the sanctity of all human life.” Meanwhile, Boehner’s counterpart, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, was left to fill the Democrat’s seats on the committee. Pelosi apparently had two criteria for her special committee appointees: that they be mutual friends with Planned Parenthood and that they have no history whatsoever of defending human Life in their careers as politicians.
How does one spot a Planned Parenthood puppet? Examine the financials. The six Democrats appointed by Pelosi to the committee have received a combined $43,362 from Planned Parenthood’s PAC since 2012 – and nearly twice that amount since 1998. LifeNews breaks down the most recent contributions as follows:
· Congressman Jerrold Nadler of New York – $1,000 in 2014 and $2,000 in 2012
· Congresswoman Diana DeGette of Colorado – $4,000 in 2014 and $7,000 in 2012
· Congresswoman Jackie Speier of California – $1,000 in 2014 and $3,800 in 2012
· Congresswoman Suzan DelBene of Washington – $9,732 in 2014 and $5,000 in 2012
· Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman of New Jersey – $3,500 in 2014
· Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky of Illinois – $3,830 in 2014 and $2,500 in 2012
Pelosi, who is notoriously anti-Life, boasted that she was “proud to name six strong champions of women, families and facts to stand up against the latest Republican assault on women’s health.” In reality, Pelosi’s appointees are in bed with an organization that hurts women, destroys families, and denies facts whenever their agenda is at odds with the truth. The Republican appointees are strong, unyielding, and committed Pro-Lifers. And coming head-to-head not only with Planned Parenthood but also with the politicians the abortion giant has bankrolled, to say that the Republicans have their work ‘cut out for them’ would be an understatement.
