New Year’s Twins Born in Different Years at New Jersey Hospital

As twin brothers, Ezra and Ezekiel Humphrey will share many things in life, but not the same birthday or even the same birth year!

The babies were born at Virtua Voorhees Hospital—one on New Year’s Eve and the other 40 minutes later in the early hours of 2024.

“Older brother Ezra was born at 11:48 p.m. on New Year’s Eve, weighing 6 pounds and measuring 18¾ inches long,” the hospital wrote in a press release. “Slightly younger brother Ezekial was born at 12:28 a.m. on New Year’s Day, weighing 4 pounds and measuring 17¼ inches long.”

Adding to the surprise, the older twin, Ezra, has the same birthday as his dad.

“When she woke me up the morning of New Year’s Eve, she said ‘happy birthday,’ I think my water broke. I need to go to the doctor,” the twins’ father, Billy, recalled.

“Having even one kid on your birthday, how rare and just really cool to have that moment we can now share,” Billy said.

Billy and Eve also have a three-year-old son, Hezekiah, whose birthday is January 3.

“In four days we have four birthdays… the 3 kids and me,” Billy rejoiced.

“Parents Eve and Billy are thrilled that their boys are healthy and will have a great birthday story to tell,” expressed the hospital.

Billy said, “It feels like paperwork is going to be the most challenging. Tell somebody you have twins, and they want to write down the same date. No, they’re born on different days in different years too.”

“They’re going to say we’re twins, and they’re going to say you’re lying,” Eve joked.

The brothers are fraternal twins and, according to their mother, are already so different in looks and in personalities.

Ezra sleeps a lot, while Ezekiel doesn’t stop moving, Eve shared.

“He’s looking around, he’s curious, so you can tell different personalities,” the mother told local news.

This special family is entering 2024 with tremendous blessings. Their story shows that God designs every child—and every family—uniquely, with a plan and a purpose.
