Houston, TX- February 3, 2016: In video footage the Center for Medical Progress released last night, a top Planned Parenthood executive and the CEO of Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast discuss illegal accounting practices to hide remuneration from the sale of fetal body parts. The video also contains several documents obtained through a Texas Public Information Act request that appear to demonstrate these accounting practices. The documents are invoices signed by Melissa Farrell, director of research at the Planned Parenthood affiliate in Houston, sent to the University of Texas Medical Branch in 2010 and 2011.
Regardless of a Harris County’s grand jury indictment last week of the citizen journalists from the Center for Medical Progress, the videos serve as further evidence of the gruesome and inhumane practices of Planned Parenthood. The work of the wrongfully indicted journalists reveals the horror that until now was hidden behind the closed doors of the largest abortion mill in the country.
Statewide, both Governor Greg Abbott and Attorney General Ken Paxton pursue ongoing investigations into the criminal activity of Planned Parenthood affiliates in Texas. The videos show evidence of both the manipulation of abortion procedures for the purpose of harvesting organs and the sale of the body parts of babies killed in abortion for profit.
We feel confident that when all the evidence is presented, along with the additional footage released last night, David Daleiden and Sandra Merritt will not be found guilty. Even the grand jury that wrongfully indicted the citizen journalists did not deny that the videos are real. The illegal business practices and the barbaric disregard for human Life show the harsh reality of abortion in our state. Texas will hold Planned Parenthood accountable for their illegal activity. Further, concerned Texans will ensure that our laws no longer allow for the most defenseless among us to be violently dismembered and their body parts sold for profit.
As our state and country continue to see the reality of abortion through the actions of Planned Parenthood caught on camera, we as an organization seek to change the law. These shocking videos underscore the need for Texas to make dismemberment abortion illegal. Without the violent dismemberment of children in the womb, the abortion industry would not be able to strategically harvest saleable parts, and the issue of trafficking baby body parts would be moot.
