When Kourtney Kardashian discovers she is pregnant with ex-boyfriend Scott Disick’s baby, abortion is tempting, or at least it seemed that way on her reality TV show.
During the season one finale of Kourtney & Khloe Take Miami, Kardashian remarks, “I don’t know how to feel or what to do because Scott and I aren’t officially a couple right now. . . I always said that if I got pregnant, I would definitely keep the baby, and it was meant to be. I never thought I would ever consider abortion. I just don’t know if this is the right situation to bring a baby into.”
Scott and Kourtney had just broken up, and many people in Kourtney’s family had not been happy about Scott and Kourtney’s relationship.
During her initial doctor visit, Kourtney asks the doctor what her options are if she does not want to keep the baby. “If you decide to terminate, it can certainly be done safely,” the doctor remarks. “When the time is right later in life that you do want to be pregnant and have a baby, it’s not an issue.” Despite the fact that these statements by the doctor are misleading pro-choice rhetoric, an ultrasound ultimately convinces Kourtney not to abort.
After viewing the ultrasound, Kardashian says, “I had no idea that the baby would look like this; it’s just, like, a real person.”
Kardashian views the baby’s head, the tiny heart beating, and the legs kicking. “That’s wild,” Scott says. Kourtney inquires, “Is it normal that it’s moving a lot?” This new little life is inspiring. “That’s our baby,” proud father Scott Disick declares. “I am finally going to be a mother,” Kourtney rejoices. Scott and Kourtney’s son, Mason Dash Disick, was born on December 14, 2009.
Although Texas Right to Life cannot endorse Kourtney & Khloe Take Miami as a family friendly television show, the season one finale contains a valuable Pro-Life testimony. Scott and Kourtney’s story reveals how each decision to choose Life or abort is a difficult for both mother and father. However, when the Life growing in the womb is shown, there can be no other option.
