Itay and Hadar Berdichevsky saved their 10-month-old twins in a final act of sacrificial love before the couple was killed by Hamas terrorists.
When the 30-year-old parents heard Hamas gunmen trying to break down their door, the young couple had to make a life-altering decision – a decision that would determine the fate of their children.
Itay and Hadar rushed to hide their babies in a shelter moments before the terrorists stormed into their home, Israeli ambassador to Colombia Gali Dagan wrote on Twitter.
The couple then tried to fight off the attackers.
“They hid their 10-month-old twin children in the shelter while terrorists infiltrated their home,” Dagan said.
Both parents were shot and killed in the unprecedented attack, which has left around 900 dead in Israel.
Itay and Hadar’s last wish was to save their children.
Praise God: the two babies were found and rescued by Israeli soldiers after being left alone for 12 hours.
Dagan hailed the couple as “heroes” who did “everything they could to save their children.”
Pray for Israel. In this heartbreaking destruction of innocent life, we can take hope in the Lord:
But this I will call to mind; therefore I will hope: The LORD’s acts of mercy are not exhausted, his compassion is not spent; They are renewed each morning—great is your faithfulness!
