This week, journalists uncovered shocking information about experiments being performed by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). CNS News found that the FDA “signed a new contract on July 25 to acquire ‘fresh’ human fetal tissue to transplant into ‘humanized mice’ so that these mice will have a functioning ‘human immune system.’”
The information came to light in information published by the FDA and the General Services Administration. An FDA notice for the contract dated June 13 said, “The objective is to acquire Tissue for Humanized Mice.” In this “presolicitation notice,” the FDA states that they are seeking a contractor to “provide the human fetal tissue needed to continue ongoing research,” and “fresh human tissues are required for implantation into severely immune-compromised mice to create chimeric animals that have [sic]human immune system.”
CNS notes, based on Harvard University’s contribution to the House Energy and Commerce Select Investigative Panel on Infant Lives regarding fetal tissue research, that this type of research requires fetal body parts. The Harvard University paper also explains that the “human fetal material” can “only come from aborted babies not from miscarriages.” As CNS News and Live Action note, the FDA’s research means that the tax-funded government agency has a vested interest in the legal killing of preborn babies and uses taxpayer money to acquire tissue from aborted babies.
In a statement to CNS News, the FDA said:
The FDA’s researchers obtain fetal tissue from a non-profit Tissue Procurement Organization (TPO) that have [sic]provided assurances that they are in compliance with all applicable legal requirements, including relevant provisions relating to research involving human fetal tissue…FDA is not involved in the TPO’s sourcing of the tissue.
The organization with which the FDA chose to contract is already notorious for suspect practices: Advanced Bioscience Resources, Inc. (ABR). The well-known procurement agency appeared in one of the bombshell undercover videos by the Center for Medical Progress showing the abortion industry’s trafficking of human body parts. Following the CMP videos, ABR was referred to the FBI for criminal investigation.
Further investigation shows the FDA’s relationship with ABR (which apparently makes significant revenues despite the “non-profit” status) is long-standing. CNS shows that the FDA has signed eight contracts with ABR, all citing human fetal tissue, humanized mice, or tissue procurement for humanized mice.
The FDA is not the only organization with a long-standing relationship with ABR; Planned Parenthood is a well-known partner (and partner in crime as suggested by the ongoing federal investigation). Katharine Sheehan, abortionist and longtime medical director at Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest, told CMP in an undercover video that her abortion mill has been partnered with ABR for a decade:
We have already a relationship with ABR. We’ve been using them for over 10 years, really a long time, just kind of renegotiated the contract. They’re doing the big collections for government-level collections and things like that.
Now we know what the “government-level collections” mean: the FDA has been using taxpayer dollars to advance anti-Life research that takes the bodies of babies killed by the violence of elective abortion and harvesting them to experiment on “humanized mice,” perhaps for as many years as Planned Parenthood has been working with ABR.
