Eastern Christianity

Pope John Paul II once said that the Church cannot breathe with but one lung. This was in reference to a lack of knowledge and understanding of the Eastern way of liturgy and spirituality that is especially prevalent in the West.

It would be wonderful to get discussion going on the complimentarity of Eastern and Western visions of prayer, monasticism, liturgy, art, and history. With the demise of devotion so evident in the West, there is much to be learned by Westerners in the Eastern principles of divinization and perfection.
