Coca-Cola Shareholders Reject Woke Proposal to Stop Selling Products in Pro-Life States

Coca-Cola shareholders have overwhelmingly rejected a measure proposed by a pro-abortion group to stop selling Coke products in over a dozen Pro-Life states.

Shareholders rejected the measure with 87% of the vote.

The proposal was not made by the company itself but brought forth by investors with the group “As You Sow,” which frequently attempts to get corporations to take far-left stances on controversial political issues.

The group had asked Coca-Cola to issue a “Report on Risk Due to Restrictions on Reproductive Rights:”

“Shareholders request that Coca-Cola’s Board of Directors issue a public report prior to December 31, 2023, omitting confidential information and at a reasonable expense, detailing any known and potential risks or costs to the company caused by enacted or proposed state policies severely restricting reproductive rights, and detailing any strategies beyond litigation and legal compliance that the company may deploy to minimize or mitigate these risks.”

Leftists suggested that Coca-Cola should punish Pro-Life states by:

  • Boycotting and divesting from them,
  • Withholding donations to any Pro-Life politicians who would otherwise have been seen as helpful to the company’s financial interests, and
  • Educating the public about the benefits of abortion and the “harm” caused when pregnant women choose Life.

The fact that the measure was rejected by such a large margin suggests that Coca-Cola shareholders know the powerful impact of consumers in Pro-Life states like Texas.
