During his confirmation hearing this week, U.S. senators questioned Xavier Becerra, Biden’s HHS secretary nominee. Most notable was a confrontation between Becerra and Senators Mitt Romney (R-Utah) and Steve Daines (R-Montana).
Romney voiced the concern Tuesday of Pro-Lifers across the country; “Most people agree that partial birth abortion is awful. You voted against a ban on partial-birth abortion, why?”
Becerra dodged the question explaining that, “When I come to these issues, I understand that we may not always agree on where to go, but I think we can find some common ground on these issues.”
To this Romney responded, “I think we can reach common ground on many issues, but on partial-birth abortion it sounds like we’re not going to reach common ground there.”
Senator Daines repeated the concern the next day, asking Becerra, “Could you name one abortion restriction that you might support?” Becerra once again dodged the question.
Daines pressed forward, asking if he would endorse a ban on the “lethal discrimination” of babies with Down syndrome or sex-selective abortions.
“I respect those who take a particular view; my job will be to make sure that I’m following the law,” Becerra replied.
Biden’s support for Becerra proves the radical anti-Life trajectory of this administration. (Both Biden and Becerra claim to be Catholic.)
Partial-birth abortion (also called intact dilation and extraction) is the truly barbaric practice of partially extracting the preborn child from the mother’s womb, only to brutally murder the child by either crushing the skull or suctioning the brain.
This “procedure” is usually committed during the second or third trimesters of pregnancy. By this point, the preborn child has more fully developed bone structures, which makes corpse removal after a normal abortion “inconvenient.”
The visible humanity of the partially extracted child and the obvious reality that partial birth abortion is murder has previously made this type of abortion unpopular, even with abortion advocates. But apparently even this excessively cruel practice is now considered acceptable to Biden and his HHS Secretary pick, Xavier Becerra.
Becerra currently works as the California attorney general, a position he has held since 2017. From 1993 until 2017 Becerra represented downtown Los Angeles in the U.S. House of Representatives.
In 2003, during his time as a U.S. congressman, Becerra rejected the humanity of preborn children and took the most radical position possible by voting against a ban on partial-birth abortion.
The Biden administration is so radically anti-Life that they have accepted the barbarous practice of partial-birth abortion. Previously, opposing the excessive cruelty of partial-birth abortion was common ground for Pro-Lifers and abortion advocates alike. Those days are gone.
Biden and his administration no longer believe that opposing partial birth abortion is common ground. The Biden administration continues to pull further Left, surpassing most other Democrats.
During his campaign, Biden voiced support for the radical call to remove the Hyde Amendment. This amendment prohibits the use of federal funds to pay for abortions, except in cases to save the life of the mother, rape, or incest. These restrictions on taxpayer funding for abortion are so commonsense that the majority of Americans support the Hyde Amendment.
As president, Joe Biden has made calls for unity and presented himself as a common sense, middle ground leader. Concerning abortion, nothing could be further from the truth. Biden and his administration continue to demonstrate their radical anti-Life and leftist agendas at every opportunity.
Despite voicing calls for normality and unity, the Biden administration’s actions prove otherwise.
But not all is lost. Americans can and should push Pro-Life legislation at the state and local levels. We must remain strong and be willing to stand for Life at every opportunity. Most of all, we must pray. The prayer and action of Pro-Life heroes like you will be the force to save our nation.
