The Biden administration is “looking very closely” at the possibility of committing abortions on veterans and their dependents at federal VA hospitals, even in states that have banned abortion, like Texas.
In an interview, Biden’s Secretary of Veterans Affairs Denis McDonough was asked, “Will the VA take this measure and allow abortion services at VA hospitals even in states where abortion is banned?”
“There are 300,000 women veterans of childbearing age who rely on us for their reproductive health care, for all their health care,” McDonough responded. “We’re going to make sure that they have access to the full slate of that care, because that’s what we owe them.”
Pressured on by his leftist base, the Biden administration has been attempting to advance the most radical abortion agenda in U.S. history. Democrats like Elizabeth Warren and Alexandria Ocasio Cortez are pushing to turn federal lands, including National Parks into abortion destinations. Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra has also announced his department is considering using federal tax dollars to pay for abortion travel, spurred on by President Biden’s most recent executive order.
Yet, even this is not enough for Democrats. After the Supreme Court’s reversal of Roe v. Wade, 24 Democratic senators signed onto a letter demanding the VA change its policies to commit abortions, even in states that have laws defending Life from abortion. “We contend that the VA has the statutory authority and discretion to provide abortions,” the letter asserts.
VA Secretary McDonough stated, “I don’t have any announcements to make on that this morning… But we’re looking very closely at that to ensure that there’s no diminution and no reduction of services to (veteran women).”
Rather than focusing on reforms that will truly aid veterans and help veteran women access care, the Biden administration is laser-focused on finding ways to continue the destruction of Life. Biden has been desperately searching for loopholes to allow abortion in Pro-Life states since the end of Roe. Now, even veterans and VA hospitals are being seen as means to advance Democrats’ abortion agenda.
Recently, Biden announced his plans to use a Pro-Life law, the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA), to force hospitals to commit abortions.
Texas is fighting in federal court against Biden’s actions to railroad over state Pro-Life laws and force hospitals to commit abortions. These attempts highlight that even as we celebrate Roe’s reversal and the prohibition of elective abortion in Texas, there is still much work to be done to build a fully Pro-Life state and to hold the abortion industry, being propped up by the Biden administration, accountable to life-saving laws.
