Radical abortion advocate Alexandria Ocasio Cortez (AOC) attacked Texas Pro-Life laws in a recent tweet. AOC claimed that “(i)n Texas, Republicans passed a law allowing rapists to sue their victims for getting an abortion.”
AOC’s tweet garnered tens of thousands of retweets and even more likes. Yet, her claim that rapists can sue their victims for abortion is a blatant lie. Even the leftist website Politifact had to mark her statement as “false.”
In Politifact’s explanation, they explain, “Texas law SB 8 (the Texas Heartbeat Act) targets abortion providers, not patients. There is a specific provision in the law that prohibits a rapist from suing.”
Though eventually admitting AOC’s claim is false, Politifact waited over a week to rate her abortion lie.
The Texas Heartbeat Act and related laws do not target or punish mothers for abortion. Instead, the Texas Heartbeat Act is enforced through civil liabilities imposed on abortion businesses and those who aid and abet in the destruction of the preborn baby’s life. Unlike the abortion industry, that seeks to trap women into abortion, Texas Pro-Lifers want to protect babies and empower women to choose Life.
This is not the first time AOC has spread lies attacking the Texas Heartbeat Act and Pro-Life laws. She previously claimed that Pro-Life laws protecting babies are “a brutal form of oppression” and even asserted that “US religious fundamentalists are working hard to outlaw sex that falls outside their theology.”
Instead, AOC has argued for unlimited abortion, in all forms, even the most brutal, up to the moment of birth. After the Supreme Court leak suggesting the overturn of Roe v. Wade, AOC was one of the first politicians to call for the outright ban on every Pro-Life law in the country.
By calling for the “codification of Roe,” AOC argued that abortion should be completely unrestricted no matter the baby’s development. “It’s time to be decisive, lead with confidence, fight for a prosperous future for all and protect the vulnerable.”
Protect the vulnerable? The tragic irony of that statement seems to be completely lost on AOC. Her angry comments have done nothing more than mislead the public and encourage the continuation of the genocide of over 60 million innocent American babies.
Democrats’ attempt to ban all protections for preborn babies by codifying Roe, failed again in the Senate this week.
