We have six days to change the course of Texas. Is this too good to be true? Can this really be done in less than one week?
Four Pro-Life bills that were dumped during the regular session — a free gift that thrilled the abortion industry that is no stranger to dumping — were breathed back into life by Governor Perry and Lieutenant Governor Dewhurst.
These two Pro-Life leaders know that laws that protect Life deserve a vote!
Late Tuesday night, our Senate Bill 5 (carried by Sen. Glenn Hegar [R-Katy]) passed out of the Senate by a vote of 20 (19 Republicans and 1 Democrat) – 10 (10 Democrats).
This legislation now heads to the State House for a hearing in the State Affairs Committee TODAY and then Rep. Jodie Laubenberg (R-Rockwall) will carry the bill to final passage on the House floor.
The forces of death will fight with everything they can muster to stop a bill that will shutter almost all the abortion clinics in Texas and save up to 10,000 tiny Texas babies every year!
That's why Texas Right to Life's team remains stationed in the State Capitol to ensure that Senate Bill 5 and the House companion, House Bill 60, do not fall prey AGAIN to the tricks of the abortion industry.
Unfortunately, abortion advocates are running through the halls of our Capitol to convince legislators that Texans want free, unfettered access to abortion at any stage of pregnancy, including secret abortions for minors, and abortions on preborn children with disabilities.
In the comment section of a Texas newspaper that just reported on the Special Session called by Governor Perry, a reader wrote:
“The right wing Texas politicians who propose these abortion laws are as bad as rapists. They force women to do something just so they can feel like they have power over women.”
Friend, who are the real extremists? Texas Right to Life who pushes to protect life? Or the ones who want to cover up the recent expose on Texas own Gosnell, Douglas Karpen, the Houston abortionist accused of twisting the heads off fully-birthed newborns? Who is exploiting women?
Friend, this is the truth of abortion — wounded women, dead children, and blood and guts. Horrific, unbelievable, grotesque, and tragic — but true — sadly, all true.
Stop the billion-dollar abortion industry's predatory war on women and Life. We cannot win without your financial support!
Perry and Dewhurst have given us this last chance to pass laws that would stop these late abortion horror stories. The battle has moved to the State House, and we now depend on the leadership of Speaker Staus. The next legislative session is in 2015 so we must act now.
The lure of filthy lucre for the billion-dollar abortion industry knows no bounds:
— Gosnell-type unregulated and filthy abortion centers like the monstrous one just discovered in Houston that tear women and life apart.
— Children under 18 allowed to undergo secret abortions without their parents' knowledge.
— Babies aborted for vague medical reasons or so-called anomalies, in fact, for any reason whatsoever.
We have budgeted $25,000 for this final push to pass the strongest, most effective Pro-Life bill in Texas history. We cannot hold anything back in this final campaign. Please send help to the front with an immediate contribution of $15, $40, $150, $1,000, or even $5,000 that will go directly to this Austin Special Session.
Unfortunately, the media and abortion industry have united, once again, in their unholy alliance to stop Pro-Life legislation.
Just the other day, over 40 abortion supporters showed up in the capitol wearing 1950s-style clothing. Some of these radical feminists even wore dresses! They tried to make a statement that any limitations — including the abortion of unborn babies at any stage — would propel them back to the 50's. (Like when parents welcomed new life, and when abortion was unthinkable?)
The unborn babies and the woman murdered in the Gosnell mill have taught these zealots nothing about the need to truly protect women from the predators known as abortionists.
These sad souls have learned nothing from the Gosnell debacle; these abortion advocates cling to “safe and rare abortions,” while turning a blind eye to substandard conditions at late abortion clinics.
Let me be clear: If Texas Right to Life was not on the ground to expose the lies of the abortion industry, many legislators would not have the confidence, facts, and arguments to support Pro-Life legislation.
Friend, please keep your Pro-Life headquarters, Texas Right to Life, in our urgent place: by the side of legislators in Austin during this emergency Special Session.
With your help over the next six days, we will forge ahead until our Pro-Life legislation is passed.
Again, we only have six days, and we're up against the bottomless pit of blood money flowing to the abortion lobby sent here to spread misinformation. Your urgent emergency support is needed right now.
Thank you for all you do to protect Life.
