Advocacy

At Texas Right to Life, we believe every human life—whether in the womb or a hospital bed—is a precious gift from God, worthy of protection and dignity.

“Learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow’s cause.” Isaiah 1:17

That’s why we step in when lives are at riskhelping patients in hospitals and fighting for preborn children in court.

Here’s a Look at What We Do:

  • Help patients and families secure more time if a hospital threatens to take away treatment against their will
  • Find other hospitals to care for a patient if doctors want to end his/her life
  • File court briefs to influence rulings
  • Defend Pro-Life laws in court and go after local governments funding illegal and out-of-state abortion costs

Our Work in Action

Save Hospital Patients

When hospitals try to take away life-sustaining treatment against a patient’s will, we help the family ask for more time and look for other places to care for the patient. When all the power is in the hospital’s hands, it helps to have a strong and passionate voice on the family’s side.

Block Tax Dollars From Funding Abortion Travel

San Antonio City Council dedicated $500,000 of taxpayer money to cover flights, hotels, and meals for women seeking abortions in other states. We filed a lawsuit to stop them.

Fight 14 Lawsuits to Defend the Heartbeat Act

Abortion advocates—including Planned Parenthood—sued Texas Right to Life 14 times, attempting to take down the Texas Heartbeat Act. We became the main defenders for preborn babies and for the state’s strongest Pro-Life law. Even Planned Parenthood’s lawyer said in court, “Texas Right to Life and John Seago are the biggest threats to Planned Parenthood.”

Court Briefs

When important cases come to the U.S. Supreme Court or Texas Supreme Court, Texas Right to Life sends information to the justices—highlighting facts and previous rulings—to urge them to vote for Life. We’ve weighed in on tax-funded abortions, euthanasia, personhood, and even the reversal of Roe v. Wade. Here are a few of our amicus briefs from high-profile cases:
