A 25-year-old man from Houston has been charged with secretly giving an abortion pill to the mother of his unborn child, killing their baby girl.
Over the weekend, deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office were called to a hospital in The Woodlands after a woman suffered a miscarriage under what authorities described as suspicious circumstances.
The mother told deputies she believed the father of her child, Jon Rueben Gabriel Demeter, had secretly given her an abortion drug without her knowledge or consent. She had no idea, she said, that she had ingested anything that could harm her baby.
Her daughter, named Presley Mae, was stillborn at the hospital.

This precious little girl was loved, wanted, and had a mother ready to take on this life with her. However, her father decided to take matters into his own hands, according to investigators.
Authorities say Demeter had repeatedly tried to pressure the mother into getting an abortion. He even offered to pay for her to travel out of state.
However, she refused. Over and over again, she made it clear she wanted to protect her child and give her baby a chance at Life.
Demeter then obtained mifepristone and secretly gave it to her with the intent to cause the death of the unborn child, police say. He was arrested on February 23, 2026, and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, causing serious bodily injury in a family violence case. Authorities have stated that additional charges may be added. He is currently being held without bond in the Montgomery County Jail and has requested a bail review.
“Our thoughts and prayers remain with the mother and her family as they mourn the loss of Presley Mae,” Sheriff Wesley Doolittle said.
This heartbreaking case exposes a truth the abortion industry rarely talks about. Abortion pills are not just used in clinics. They are shipped across the country, often with little oversight. In Texas, abortion pills are illegal. Yet websites continue to distribute them, making it possible for virtually anyone to obtain these deadly drugs.
That includes abusive partners.
When abortion pills can be ordered online as easily as buying a book or a pair of shoes, it opens the door for more coercion, manipulation, and violence. A woman can be drugged without her knowledge. A baby can lose his or her life.
This is not the first time a man has been accused of secretly giving abortion pills to a pregnant woman. Sadly, it likely will not be the last if we don’t take action right now.
Abortion, including dangerous abortion pills, should be illegal nationwide. Sadly, that is not yet the reality. But there is an immediate and meaningful step that could be taken right now. President Donald Trump has the authority to act by enforcing existing federal law.
If abortion drugs were not shipped through the mail, tragedies like this would be far less likely to happen. The Comstock Act already prohibits the mailing of abortion pills. The law is on the books; it simply needs to be enforced.
How many more innocent babies will lose their lives because abortion drugs can be ordered with the click of a button before our leaders finally take action?
