Texas lawmakers approved full funding for adoption agencies, pregnancy centers, and maternity homes!
This is a huge blessing, but please keep praying: The final vote won’t take place until May.
Just yesterday, our legislative team walked into the Capitol with an uphill battle: The Texas House decreased Pro-Life funding from the previous budget.
Pro-Life Christians like you prayed while officials debated hundreds of amendments to the state budget until 3:00 a.m.
Thanks to God’s grace and your prayers, the Texas House voted to fully fund life-saving nonprofits at $210 million in the Thriving Texas Families program. These providers help mothers choose Life by offering baby materials (like diapers and formula), counseling, job skills training, and more. They served 150,000 Texans last year.
This victory isn’t about dollars. It’s about the children and families rescued from abortion.

Representative Tom Oliverson, M.D., who introduced the amendment to fund this program, stated:
“This program promotes healthy pregnancy and childbirth. It supports moms who choose to have their baby. It increases access to resources that promote family and child development. It encourages families to stay together and support each other. It teaches parents to implement successful parenting techniques. It teaches families to take care of themselves financially. And it provides personalized support to pregnant women so that mom feels ready to have her baby. The additional dollars that we are appropriating today will help further the mission of this very successful program, providing women with the support they need to have a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby.”
We also thank Representative Caroline Harris Davila for adding to Dr. Oliverson’s amendment to fully fund these resources for mothers and babies.
On top of this victory, we stopped policies that would have allowed your tax dollars to go to abortion groups or decrease funding for pregnancy centers.
However, Democrats blocked an important Pro-Life amendment that would have stopped bureaucrats from misusing Pro-Life funds (as a government agency did in February). We will have to fight to fix this through another bill before June.
More and more women are seeking help to continue their pregnancies instead of seeking abortion, as Texas strengthens our Pro-Life laws. (We expect a 33% increase in the number of mothers visiting Thriving Texas Families providers over the next two years.)
Still, an estimated 30,000 Texan babies will be aborted this year by illegal pills and out-of-state procedures… unless we do something to save them. Lawmakers must also pass the Woman and Child Protection Act and the Stop Tax-Funded Abortion Travel Act.
By increasing Pro-Life funding, we can support women and their babies with compassion and care instead of letting the abortion industry target them.
Miracles like these don’t just happen. They’re the gifts of a loving God who created every child in His image, children we’re called to protect.
Yesterday was a big day; our team did not leave the Capitol until 3:00 a.m., when the House finally adjourned. We’re praying for many more victories between now and the end of the legislative session on June 2.
