Every two years, grassroots Republicans come together at the Republican Party of Texas (RPT) State Convention to shape the Party’s future. Conservatives debate and vote on the Party Platform and Legislative Priorities — key documents that guide Republican lawmakers and hold them accountable to conservative principles.
With renewed attacks on preborn babies, Texas conservatives must recommit to making the protection of innocent human life the Party’s top priority.
This year’s Republican Party of Texas convention will take place in Houston from June 11–13.
Texas Right to Life is advancing four bold Pro-Life resolutions for consideration at the local Republican conventions across the state. These resolutions will help ensure the Party remains unwavering in its commitment to defend Life from fertilization until natural death.

Although Texas outlawed abortion following the fall of Roe v. Wade, the battle is far from over. Radical groups are mailing illegal abortion pills into Texas and smuggling them across the southern border. While the 89th Texas Legislature took important steps to combat these tactics, more must be done to fully protect preborn children and vulnerable patients.
Pro-Life resolutions for the 2026 convention:
- Resolution to Stop Abortion in Texas and Nationwide, Protecting Moms and Babies: Strengthening the RPT Platform language to clearly oppose abortion federally, and fight to stop deadly abortion pill distribution.
- Resolution to Promote Private Adoption as the Loving Alternative to Abortion: Creating a new plank in the RPT Platform to promote infant adoption as an alternative to abortion and support education and resources towards this end.
- Resolution to Protect Patients’ Right to Life: Amends Platform language to strengthen protections for vulnerable patients, including opposing the weaponization of brain death diagnoses and ensuring that medical decisions respect the inherent dignity of every human Life.
- Resolution to make Defending the Right to Life a Legislative Priority: Calls on the RPT to make protecting Life, including preborn children and vulnerable patients, a Legislative Priority.
The urgency of this moment cannot be overstated. At the 2024 Republican National Committee convention, party leaders weakened the long-standing Pro-Life commitments in the national platform. Since then, federal action to protect Life has stalled, all the while abortion numbers are increasing nationally, now taking over one million preborn lives annually.
When Life is deprioritized, preborn children and vulnerable patients suffer the consequences.
The nation looks to Texas as a leader. We must press forward in defending Life!
If these Pro-Life resolutions are adopted, the Republican Party of Texas will not only send a clear message to state and federal leaders but also take the first step in stopping the current attack on precious babies in our nation.
Texas will continue to protect children from illegal abortions, promote adoption as a loving alternative, and defend mothers and patients from policies that devalue human life. These principles will guide lawmakers as they prepare for the 2027 legislative session.
We must not back down. The Right to Life, from fertilization until natural death, must remain our highest priority!
