Congressman Brandon Gill, who represents parts of North Texas, including Denton and northern Tarrant counties, took a bold stand for babies in the womb.
Gill used his time in a hearing to question a pro-abortion witness, Jessica Waters, a professor testifying in defense of the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act. The law is meant to protect access to abortion clinics, but it has also been used to prosecute Pro-Life advocates who peacefully witness outside those facilities.
Under the Biden administration, several Pro-Life activists were imprisoned using this law.
As the hearing unfolded, Gill pressed Waters on a topic many abortion advocates avoid: what abortion actually does.
“What’s your favorite type of abortion?” Gill asked Jessica Waters.
“I’m an advocate for patients having access to the full realm of reproductive healthcare,” Waters said.
He then went on to describe what the deadly procedure entails.
“The first kind is called a ‘suction abortion,’” Gill said. “This is when the cervix is dilated and a strong suction, 29 times the power of a household vacuum cleaner, tears the baby’s body apart and sucks it through the hose into a container. Do you prefer that method?”
“I stand by my former testimony,” Waters replied.
Gill continued, pressing the reality of another procedure.
“What about this one? This one is called dilation and curettage. After dilation of the cervix, a sharp, looped knife is inserted into the uterus, the baby’s body is cut into pieces and extracted, often by suction. Do you prefer that method?”
“What I believe we are here to talk about today is the FACE Act. We are not here to talk about the legality of abortion,” Waters responded.
Again and again, Waters declined to answer directly, repeating that she was there to discuss clinic access, not abortion itself.
“You don’t want to talk about abortion itself — why is that?” Gill asked.
“I would prefer to talk about the reason the committee called the hearing,” she said.
“Is it because it’s uncomfortable to talk about? It should be uncomfortable,” Gill responded.
The exchange highlighted something deeper than a disagreement over policy. It revealed how often the reality of abortion is avoided altogether.
At one point, after Gill described another procedure, he asked plainly, “Do you prefer that method?”
“I would prefer to talk about the subject of the hearing,” Waters answered.
“This is the subject of the hearing. This is about protests outside of abortion clinics. I’m asking you about abortion,” Gill said.

“I stand by my prior testimony,” she replied.
“I wouldn’t want to talk about this, either, if I were you, because it is barbaric and evil,” Gill concluded.
Perhaps the most telling moment came when Gill described how an unborn child’s body is cut apart during an abortion, and Waters responded not by addressing the description, but by retreating to general language about “reproductive healthcare.”
This exchange reflects a larger pattern. Abortion is often framed with phrases like “ending the pregnancy” or “expelling the fetus.” These terms can feel distant and clinical. But when the procedures themselves are described, the conversation changes. The reality becomes harder to ignore.
When people hear what happens during an abortion, they are confronted with the truth. The language shifts from abstract to real. And in that moment, many begin to recognize that this is not just about a “clump of cells,” but about a developing human life.
Gill’s willingness to speak plainly, on a national stage, cut through the euphemisms that often dominate the conversation.
We commend Brandon Gill for his clarity and courage. Truth has a way of breaking through, even when it is uncomfortable. And sometimes, that discomfort is exactly what opens hearts and minds.
We pray that seeds were planted, not only in that hearing room, but in the hearts of those who heard it, and that more people will come to see the value of every baby in the womb.
Seeing this kind of boldness is an amazing step for the Pro-Life movement and will spark hearts to change all over the country! However, there is more to be done!
President Trump can immediately stop abortion pills from being mailed across the country by enforcing a law that already exists, without waiting years for Congress to act.
However, the Trump administration needs to hear from Pro-Lifers like you. Sign the petition to tell President Trump to enforce the Comstock Act and end mail-order abortions in America!
