Two people in Texas were arrested for committing illegal abortions and operating clinics with unlicensed staff.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced the arrest of Maria Margarita Rojas, a 48-year-old midwife in the Houston area, and her employee Jose Ley.
The state’s investigation found that “Dr. Maria,” with Ley’s help, attempted an abortion on two separate occasions in March, according to court records. Paxton also asserted Rojas also performed an abortion in Harris County earlier this year.
Rojas owned and operated multiple facilities known as Clinica Waller Latinoamericana in Waller, Clinica Latinoamericana Telge in Cypress, and Latinoamericana Medical Clinic in Spring. Paxton said the clinics “unlawfully employed unlicensed individuals who falsely presented themselves as licensed medical professionals.”
To block any further crimes by Rojas’ businesses, the attorney general filed for a temporary restraining order to shut them down while the trial plays out.

Texas is not Pro-Life unless we actually enforce our laws. The state still needs more tools to block the abortion industry’s new tactics online, but Texas Right to Life is thankful that General Paxton is proving we can save a lot of lives by upholding current law.
Texas must pass more protections to save children in the womb from the new insidious efforts of abortion activists. The Woman and Child Protection Act (Senate Bill 2880 and House Bill 5510) could make Texas the first state to target the abortion industry’s underground operations.
