The Pro-Life cause isn’t just about encouraging women to give birth to their precious babies; it’s about ensuring that both mother and child receive the care and support they need to live a beautiful life together!
A community in Summersville, West Virginia is doing just that! Free car maintenance, haircuts, and food were given to single mothers in town to help them with necessities!
A few weeks ago local businesses, churches, aid providers, community leaders, and Her Pregnancy & Life Assistance Network (Her PLAN) came together to help local mothers. This all started when a local community member noticed the struggle these single mothers were facing, being that their area has an 18% estimated poverty rate.
Life is not always easy for single moms trying to balance work, taking their children to school and activities, all while keeping up with life’s other responsibilities. Sometimes, things like car maintenance can be hard to make time for, and even pay for.
That’s why the Summersville community and local mechanics were happy to provide mothers with free oil changes, filter replacements, and tire fill-ups. The event also featured a barber and hair stylist offering free haircuts, crafts and games for children, breakfast and a BBQ lunch for attendees.
There were 26 family members served throughout this event. Several attendees were able to connect with long-term resources to continue walking with them as they raise their children. There was also time for volunteers to talk with moms, play with the kids, and help them all feel the love and support of their community.

Her PLAN was founded in 2020 when SBA Pro-Life America President Marjorie Dannenfelser was anticipating what a future Pro-Life America would look like. Her PLAN recognizes that, out of every “crisis” pregnancy, the pregnancy itself is rarely the root cause of the crisis. In other words, it’s not the child but the surrounding circumstances that can make women feel that abortion is the only choice they have. Their goal is for women to thrive with their babies, with the support of their community.
We are deeply grateful to the Summersville community and Her PLAN for their incredible generosity, giving their time and resources to ensure that mothers and their children are not only cared for, but also have the security of safe and reliable transportation. Their compassion has touched Lives and brought hope to families in need.
