Actress and far-left activist Jane Fonda sparked controversy after suggesting that “murder” could be a solution to oppose Pro-Life laws during a recent appearance on The View.
Fonda, a long-time abortion supporter, made the remarks while discussing the recent reversal of Roe v. Wade, stating that “we’re not going back; I don’t care what the laws are.”
When co-host Joy Behar asked what else could be done beyond protesting, Fonda responded, “Well, I’ve thought of murder.” Another guest asked her to repeat herself. “Murder,” Fonda said again, with laughter erupting from the liberal panel.
“She’s just kidding,” Behar said hastily, before motioning. “Wait a second… They’ll pick up on that and just run with it. She’s just kidding.”
Abortion is inherently violent. Fonda’s remarks demonstrate that when society accepts violence toward one segment of the population (preborn children), it inevitably leads to the promotion of violence toward other members of the human family. The Right to Life must be protected and cherished for all people because we are made in the image and likeness of God.
Fonda’s comments come at a time when Pro-Life advocates have been subjected to an alarming wave of violence, including firebombings, vandalism, and assaults, across the United States, including three bomb threats to Texas Right to Life.
Even FBI Director Christopher Wray has admitted that most of the abortion-related violence in the past year has targeted Pro-Life organizations.
Despite this, there have been few arrests among hundreds of attacks, and many Pro-Life organizations are increasing their security while calling for action from the Biden administration.
Fonda has since tried to claim that her comments were made in jest. However, this does not excuse the gravity of her words or the impact they can have on impressionable viewers.
Fonda has a history of far-left activism and controversial behavior, including her infamous 1972 trip to North Vietnam where she was photographed on an anti-aircraft gun used to shoot down American pilots. Her behavior and statements demonstrate a lack of respect for the sanctity of human Life and the rule of law.
