For a while, the federal government was pushing pharmacies to carry abortion pills, even if the pharmacy or pharmacist had moral or religious objections.
Now, that pressure is officially gone.
Under the Trump administration, the Department of Health and Human Services completely canceled the old Biden policy.
That means:
- Pharmacies are not required by the federal government to carry abortion pills;
- Pharmacists cannot be forced to dispense them; and,
- Decisions now depend on state law, a pharmacist’s professional judgment, and their religious or moral beliefs.
In short, Washington is no longer leaning on local pharmacies across the nation to dispense abortion pills. However, they are ignoring a federal law that bans the mailing of these deadly drugs, called the Comstock Act.
After the Supreme Court said in 2022 that lawmakers can decide abortion policies, the Biden administration stepped in and told pharmacies across the country that they should provide abortion pills to people using government health insurance.

A lot of people pushed back on this, including Texas, which filed a lawsuit.
Not only would this policy undermine pharmacists’ religious and moral freedoms, but it also completely sidestepped our Pro-Life laws that say killing preborn babies is no longer allowed in our state.
Texas also argued that this guidance created confusion and fear, making pharmacies feel like they’d get in trouble if they didn’t carry abortion drugs.
And luckily, the judge sided with Texas. And now, the Trump administration followed suit and reversed this deadly Biden policy for the entire nation!
This is an amazing step for the Pro-Life movement across the United States and will save thousands of precious babies! However, most women do not go pick up their abortion pills from a pharmacy; they order them straight to their door.
President Trump can immediately stop abortion pills from being mailed across the country by enforcing a law that already exists, without waiting years for Congress to act.
