Job Opportunity: Patient Advocate

​Texas Right to Life is seeking a full-time patient advocate to enhance the efforts of our patient advocacy department.  The successful candidate will be motivated by the opportunity to expand Texas Right to Life’s life-saving work in hospitals, state capitols, schools, universities, and other venues through legal, peaceful, and prayerful means.

Position in the Organization: 

  • The patient advocate will report directly to Texas Right to Life’s executive director.

Expected Job Responsibilities Include:

  • Serve as a member of the organization’s patient advocate team, assisting the patients and families who are served through Texas Right to Life’s Family Assistance Fund. Key responsibilities include:
    • Provide intake services and counseling regarding denial of treatment issues;
    • Maintain files of patients;
    • Maintain organizational statistics on patients;
    • Communicate with families;
    • Provide administrative support on an as-needed basis to allied attorneys and paralegals.
  • Attend functions and meetings with other organizational departments and speak intelligently about the activities of the patient advocacy department;
  • Generally assist the organization’s other departments on an as-needed basis.

Location:

The administrative position will be based out of Texas Right to Life’s headquarters in Bellaire, Texas.

Schedule:

The position is expected to work a 40-hour work week in an office setting.  Occasionally, the position will be required to work odd, long hours over a weekend or through the evenings when an emergency situation arises under the department’s patient advocacy work or around organizational-wide events that require support from all staff.

  • 1-2 years of administrative experience in an office setting
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and professional demeanor
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Strong knowledge of Google, including Gmail, Drive, Docs, and Sheets
  • Ability to work independently, manage large workloads, and keep deadlines
  • Ability to juggle multiple activities and work under pressure
  • Ability to multitask
  • Ability to be flexible in project management and day-to-day activities
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment that changes rapidly
