Attorney General Warns Abortion Pill Websites to Stop Killing Texas Babies or Face Massive Lawsuits

Attorney General Ken Paxton sent cease-and-desist letters on Wednesday to three companies illegally selling and shipping abortion pills into Texas. The letters warned that if activists don’t stop mailing these deadly drugs right now, they’ll face massive lawsuits from the state.

Abortion pill websites have not publicly responded to the attorney general’s action. They could continue business as usual and risk a $100,000 fine for every baby killed, or they could follow state law and quit aborting Texan children.

Texas Right to Life is grateful for the attorney general’s first step to stop the digital abortion industry. Each year, roughly 19,000 abortion pills are ordered online and illegally shipped into the state, making this the biggest threat to babies in Texas today.

Pro-Life laws ban elective abortions in Texas, but current policies aren’t enough to stop abortionists in other states and countries. That’s why Texas lawmakers must pass the Woman and Child Protection Act (Senate Bill 7 by Sen. Bryan Hughes and House Bill 7 by Rep. Jeff Leach). This measure would allow citizens to sue abortionists who kill Texan babies with abortion pills then hide in liberal states.

Pro-abortion groups have admitted this bill would be their biggest challenge since the fall of Roe v. Wade. By passing the Woman and Child Protection Act, Texas would lead the nation in shutting down the underground abortion industry and ensuring that activists are held accountable.

“We applaud Attorney General Paxton and his team for using every tool available to stop the abortion industry from sneaking dangerous pills into Texas homes,” Texas Right to Life President Dr. John Seago remarked. “These drugs not only end the lives of innocent children but also put moms at serious risk. The Woman and Child Protection Act is urgently needed so Texas can continue leading the nation in defending both mothers and their preborn babies.”

Texas Right to Life asks every Pro-Life Texan to contact lawmakers so they will stop abortion pills.

Contact lawmakers:

Dear Representatives,

I urge you to pass House Bill 7, the Woman and Child Protection Act. I strongly believe that every life deserves to be protected, from fertilization to natural death. However, even with our current Pro-Life laws, tens of thousands of abortion pills are mailed into our state each year, killing preborn babies. Texans need more tools to bring about justice for abortionists and activists who send deadly drugs to our communities. Please quickly advance HB 7 through the committee, so Pro-Life citizens can save preborn children and defend their mothers from abortion pills.

Thank you for your leadership.
