President Donald Trump spoke through a video message at the March for Life this past weekend in Washington, D.C., as thousands of Pro-Life Americans gathered to stand up for preborn babies.
Every year, the March for Life brings together people from all over the country who believe every preborn baby matters. It began around the anniversary of Roe v. Wade and has grown into one of the largest human rights demonstrations in the world. Families, students, churches, and activists come together to march, rally, and call for laws that protect babies and support moms.
President Trump spoke about how much he cares about preborn babies, what his administration has already done to protect them, and why the fight for Life is far from over.
But while his call to action was powerful, it also highlights something important. There is more we need the president to accomplish this year.

Although he did not mention it in his speech, Texas Right to Life has been leading a campaign to remind executive federal leaders of the Comstock Act. There is already a federal law on the books that would ban abortion pills from being mailed across the country. Enforcing it would make a huge difference and save lives immediately. In 2023 alone, there were 642,700 abortion pill abortions. That made up about 63 percent of all abortions. Stopping these pills from being mailed would save hundreds of thousands of babies.
Trump opened his speech by pointing to what many see as the biggest Pro-Life victory of our lifetime: the fall of Roe v. Wade.
“In my first term, I was honored to appoint judges and justices who believed in interpreting the Constitution as written. That was a big deal. And because of that, the Pro-Life movement won the greatest victory in its history,” Trump highlighted.
Because Roe was overturned, the legislators now get to decide on abortion laws. That change mattered deeply for Pro-Life states like Texas, which were finally free to protect babies instead of being forced to follow a nationwide abortion mandate.
Trump made it clear that the work did not stop with overturning Roe.
“Now the work, to rebuild a culture that supports Life continues in every state, every community, and every part of our beautiful land. This is a battle that must be fought, must be won, not only in the corridors of power, but above all in the hearts and souls of the people,” he added.
He is right. This battle must be fought, and it must be won. Not just at the state-level, but in DC as well. And enforcing existing law would be a powerful next step.
Banning the mailing of abortion pills would strike a major blow to the abortion industry and save countless preborn babies.
It is also important to remember that there is no shortage of loving families ready to welcome children. About two million families in the United States are waiting to adopt a newborn baby. That comes out to about 36 families for every one child. There will always be loving homes ready for these children if their mother chooses adoption.
Trump also spoke about faith, adoption, and support for families.
“That is why under the Trump administration, we’re strongly defending religious liberty. We’re bringing back faith in America. We’re bringing back God. We have stopped forced taxpayer funding of abortion at home and abroad. We’re championing faith-based adoption and foster care, and supporting our parents by investing $1,000 into an account that will grow over time for every newborn baby. With your help and support, we will continue to fight at the eternal truth that every child is a gift from God. Thank you, and God bless America.”
We are deeply thankful for the progress that has already been made for preborn babies, foster children, and families across the country. But as President Trump himself said, we cannot be content with where we’re at. We must keep pushing forward, which includes raising our expectations for federal leaders, including the President.
This fight is not over yet. And it must be won.
