Men are needed in the Pro-Life movement. Not just the Charlie Kirks, J.D. Vances, or Benjamin Watsons. We need ordinary superheroes of their families… Grandpas, dads, and any man who has a heart for children.
For too long, the abortion industry has operated under the false pretense that men can have no voice in the killing of babies in the womb. They have relied on the dismissive, anti-Life slogan, “no uterus, no opinion,” to silence men and shield their deadly business from scrutiny. But a new wave of courage is rising from Australia’s construction sites, workshops, and mechanic shops, proving that protecting babies is a duty for every man of conscience.
What began as a simple community outreach has exploded into a global movement known as “Tradies for Babies.” This grassroots organization of carpenters, electricians, plumbers, and mechanics is stepping into the gap to defend the most vulnerable among us: the babies being killed in the womb.
“When men have a mission or something that they could conquer, that is really when men come alive. We need purpose as men to thrive. So I think because abortion is the greatest human rights violation that we have at the moment in the world, going on globally. 73 million people tied to abortion last year. I think that’s when men found that we were creating this movement; they just jumped on it because we need that purpose. They wanted to use their masculinity to protect those that were more vulnerable than themselves.” Shawn Freeborn, director of Tradies for Babies, shared.
Founded by Dr. Joanna Howe and led by Director Shaun Freeborn, the movement was ignited by a moment of profound clarity. During a gathering in South Australia, a tradesman—his hands roughened by years of manual labor—spoke a truth that many have been too afraid to utter: “They don’t know anything about all these babies being killed. Nobody knows about it.”
That realization has since spread like wildfire. Within a year, “Tradies for Babies” has amassed over 80,000 followers and millions of views online. These are not career activists or professional politicians; these are men who build our homes and keep our country running, now choosing to build a culture that honors Life.

For many in this movement, the fight is deeply personal. Shaun and his wife, Simone, carry a sorrow that no amount of time can erase. Early in their relationship, they succumbed to the lies of the abortion industry, believing it would be a “quick fix” for a crisis. They lost their daughter, Evangeline.
“We thought the abortion would be a quick fix,” Freeborn admitted. “It wasn’t.”
The grief of an empty chair at the family table is a heavy burden, but the Freeborns have chosen to turn that heartbreak into a holy mission. They recognize that every child is fearfully and wonderfully made by God (Psalm 139:14), and every life lost to abortion is a tragedy that leaves a permanent scar on the soul of a family and a nation.
Shaun admitted on the podcast that he knows now if he had firmly pushed against the abortion of their daughter and said he would step up and provide for their family, they would have never gone through with the procedure. He knows how vital a man’s voice is in this movement, and how it can make or break a Life-or-death decision.
“Tradies for Babies” is fighting a two-front war: one in the courts to change laws that permit the killing of children, and one in the hearts of the people to change our broken culture. But they are also fighting on the ground. Recognizing that mothers in crisis often face overwhelming practical hurdles, the movement is building a network of Pro-Life tradesmen who can provide real, tangible help—from fixing a leaky pipe to ensuring a home is safe and habitable.
They also want to fundraise for land and build housing for pregnant women facing financial or housing struggles.
These courageous men are proving that a culture of Life is not just about slogans; it is about showing women that they are not alone and that their children are worth fighting for. They are offering a beautiful, life-affirming alternative to the violence of abortion.
As the movement grows, its goal remains uncompromising: to end abortion entirely. While the abortion industry continues to lobby for more access to deadly drugs and more ways to kill babies, these men are standing firm, declaring that the dignity of a human being does not depend on convenience or zip code.
We must join them in this fight. The darkness of the abortion industry is vast, but it cannot withstand the light of truth and the strength of a community united in love for babies in the womb.
Will you stand with the men who are building a foundation for Life? Pray for the mothers and fathers, support the pregnancy centers, and speak boldly for those who cannot speak for themselves. The battle for Life is won when we refuse to stay silent.
