Lawmakers ended the 30-day special session in Austin on Friday without passing the Woman and Child Protection Act from the House. However, Governor Greg Abbott called a second special session that same day, providing another opportunity to save moms and babies from abortion pills.

Every year, at least 19,000 abortion drugs are illegally brought into Texas, often mailed from other states and countries.
The Texas Senate stood up to stop this threat, passing the Woman and Child Protection Act twice so far this year.
Abortion groups no longer rely on brick-and-mortar facilities to end preborn lives. Instead, they mail abortion pills straight to homes and dorm rooms, even in Pro-Life states like Texas.
The Woman and Child Protection Act by Senator Bryan Hughes (SB 6; 89(1)) and Representative Jeff Leach (HB 30; 89(1)) is the best way to close the gaps that our current laws don’t reach. The bill would allow Pro-Life citizens to sue companies and activists who manufacture, mail, or distribute these lethal pills to cause an abortion in Texas–even in other states like New York and California where abortionists hide behind “SHIELD laws”.

Dear Lieutenant Governor Patrick and Speaker Burrows,
I’m writing to urge you to pass the Woman and Child Protection Act in the second called session of the 89th Texas Legislature. We must address the growing danger of abortion pills in Texas. Over 19,000 of these pills are mailed into our state each year—often from unregulated websites—putting women at serious risk and killing innocent preborn children.
The Woman and Child Protection Act by Senator Bryan Hughes and Representative Jeff Leach (SB 6 & HB 30; 89(1)) would stop traffickers and distributors of these deadly drugs while protecting women from prosecution. The bill allows families to seek justice if a woman is harmed or killed by these lethal drugs.
Please take immediate action and pass the Woman and Child Protection Act in this special session. Texas must continue to lead in saving lives.Thank you for your leadership.
