Over 100 abortion clinics have closed since the overturning of Roe v. Wade. But there is still an important question: Has that decreased abortions?
No.
Chemical abortions are on the rise and easier to access now more than ever.
The number of abortion “clinics” hasn’t decreased, or even stayed the same—they’ve multiplied by the thousands.
Instead of clinics with doctors and nurses, abortions are now happening in women’s bathrooms and college dorm rooms—with no medical professional involved at all.
Of the 105 abortion clinics that have closed, 65 are in states where abortion is still legal, according to the Associated Press.
Yes, closures are happening because of new protections for preborn children. But in many cases, too, it’s because the abortion industry is abandoning the old model and shifting to digital, pill-based abortions that defy state laws and protections.
Meanwhile, Planned Parenthood is thriving in a new, darker way.

402,230 abortions reportedly took place at Planned Parenthood in 2023—the highest number in its history.
Yes, the very year they saw the most clinic closures, they also took the most lives.
While we rightly celebrate every facility that closes, we cannot afford to believe that the battle is over. The enemy has simply changed his strategy, turning women into their own abortionists—isolated, unsupported, and misled into thinking this is “freedom.”
There is some good news: Under President Donald Trump’s administration, over 20 Planned Parenthood clinics have closed this year, thanks in part to bold steps like freezing Title X family planning funds. Nine of those clinics—including two in Utah—lost 20% of their budgets after Title X cuts and were forced to shut down.
But while leadership matters, so does vigilance. Chemical abortion pills are flooding into Pro-Life states, and the battle to protect preborn babies is moving into new, uncharted territory.
Lawmakers at every level—state legislatures, Congress, and the president—should pass new policies to stop mail-order abortions.
In 2023, 19,000 abortion pills flooded the state of Texas, killing vulnerable children and harming women.
Want to make an impact?
Governor Greg Abbott can bring Texas lawmakers back to the Capitol for a special 30-day session—but they can only work on the issues he chooses. That’s why we’re asking you to send him a quick, prewritten email urging him to add Senate Bill 2880, the Woman and Child Protection Act, to the agenda.
This life-saving bill would:
- Let any Texan sue people who traffic, mail, or sell abortion pills in our state
- Allow families to sue if a woman is hurt or killed by these dangerous drugs
- Let Texas prosecutors go after abortion pill traffickers—even those from out of state
The Woman and Child Protection Act would deal a major blow to the underground abortion industry and save thousands of preborn babies.
Now is the time for Pro-Life Texans to speak up and take action!
Contact Governor Abbott:
Dear Governor Abbott,
I’m writing to urge you to call a Special Session to address the growing danger of abortion pills in Texas. Over 19,000 of these pills are mailed into our state each year—often from unregulated websites—putting women at serious risk and ending the lives of innocent preborn children.
Senate Bill 2880, the Woman and Child Protection Act, would stop traffickers and distributors of these deadly drugs while protecting women from prosecution. The bill allows families to seek justice if a woman is harmed or killed by these lethal drugs.
Please take swift action and add SB 2880 to the call for a Special Session. Texas must continue to lead in protecting Life.
Thank you for your leadership.
