Vice President and Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris selected Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate for the upcoming election. Pro-abortion groups are overjoyed at this decision.
The anti-Life organization Reproductive Freedom for All (formerly NARAL Pro-Choice America) applauded Walz as Harris’ vice president pick. “Gov. Walz has been a steadfast champion for reproductive freedom, working tirelessly to protect and expand abortion access for Minnesotans. We applaud Vice President Harris for selecting him as her running mate—solidifying the most pro-reproductive freedom presidential ticket in U.S. history.”
Jenny Lawson, executive director of Planned Parenthood Votes, praised Harris and Walz for their contributions to the pro-abortion movement. After that, she emphasized, “The Trump-Vance ticket is the biggest threat to reproductive freedom we’ve seen in generations and they must be stopped. Planned Parenthood Votes is working to ensure Kamala Harris and Tim Walz make it to the White House, where they can build on the work Harris has done as vice president to protect our lives, bodies, and futures.”
At a rally in Philadelphia, Harris commended Walz for being the first governor to pass a pro-abortion state law after the overturning of Roe.
What is Tim Walz’s Pro-Abortion Record?
While serving as Governor of Minnesota, Walz signed the Protect Reproductive Options (PRO) Act into law. This law guarantees a “fundamental right” to abortion in the state, without any restrictions or protections in place.
When running for governor, Walz declared he supported “maintaining the timelines outlined by current law.” At the time, Minnesota had a 24-week abortion ban. He even accused Republicans of lying when they claimed he supported unlimited abortion.
However, the Protect Reproductive Options Act permits unrestricted abortion at any point during pregnancy and denies parents the right to know if their minor daughter is seeking one.
Despite the media’s insistence that abortions simply don’t happen so late in pregnancy, Minnesota is one of nine states in the nation (plus D.C.) that has legalized and protected abortion without gestational limits since the reversal of Roe.

Minnesota Concerned Citizens for Life Co-Executive Director Cathy Blaeser explained, “Under this bill, even babies who are old enough to live outside the womb and to feel excruciating pain have no protection from lethal violence. The extremism of H.F. 1 puts Minnesota in the same category as just a handful of countries around the world, including North Korea and China.”
Not only did Walz enact a policy allowing abortion up to birth, but he also revoked a law that requires lifesaving care for newborns. The Omnibus bill, SF 2995, was largely crafted behind closed doors. The bill strips out Minnesota’s existing requirement that reasonable measures be taken to “preserve the life and health” of born-alive infants, replacing it with a requirement for “care,” which the bill’s House author, Rep. Tina Liebling (DFL-Rochester), has described as mere “comfort” care. Under the new language, an infant could be denied life-saving care and allowed to die.
Within the bill is the repeal of Positive Alternatives, a grant program under the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) for “Life-affirming organizations offering support to pregnant women.” According to Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life, the program offered $3.357 million annually to pregnancy resource centers around the state.
Walz’s stance on abortion aligns closely with Harris’. He has never opposed abortion for any reason or at any stage of pregnancy. His radical views were made clear in May 2023 when he signed a funding bill that repealed Minnesota’s protection for babies born alive after a failed abortion. In other words, he legalized selective infanticide.
Former President Trump slammed Walz for this horrific bill.
His stance on abortion has been deemed the “most extreme” in the nation by Republican Senate Minority Leader Mark Johnson. However, it’s not only conservatives that are criticizing his views. Walz himself even claimed he is so pro-choice, that Nancy Pelosi told him to tone his stance down.
A Harris-Walz administration would allow children to be killed every day inside and outside of the womb. Join us in prayer for our nation.
