Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg said that men are “more free” in a country with access to abortion and birth control.
At the “White Dudes for Harris” virtual campaign event on Monday, Buttigieg openly endorsed a future where men could exploit women for pleasure and discard them—and their children—once they become inconvenient.
“Of course, men are also more free in a country where we have a president who stands up for things like access to abortion,” he said.
Buttigieg’s comments sparked an online uproar. Many users criticized his remarks, claiming that men benefit from a society where abortion is legal and easily accessible.
Many comments from upset users highlight a growing awareness of how much abortion has been normalized and even glorified.

One commenter said, “The glorification of abortions is weird.”
