A Pro-Life organization in McAllen, Texas, has turned a former abortion facility into a life-affirming pregnancy center!
This facility was the only place abortions were committed along the Rio Grande Valley, which consists of four counties along South Texas’ border with Mexico. Yolanda Chapa, founder of the McAllen Pregnancy Center, told Pillar it was a “miracle” the McAllen Whole Woman’s Health abortion facility had closed.
The Pillar, a Catholic news outlet, reported that the once-infamous abortion business is now a safe-haven for women to come for pregnancy tests, parenting classes, counseling services, and even a “baby boutique” for supplies parents need.
Chapa added that the center offers some medical services. “Our medical director is an OB/GYN, and we do have medical staff, but the services we provide are very limited,” she said. “So we do not diagnose, but we can refer, and we have pro-life OB/GYNs who help. So every client, if they want, will leave with a doctor’s appointment, and the doctors can help them apply for Medicaid.”
This shatters the stereotype that Pro-Lifers only want the baby to be born but refuse to help the mother and child after birth. This new center stands as a beacon of light to the community, reminding them that the Pro-Life movement deeply cares about parents and their babies throughout their entire lives.
“I was on that sidewalk for 17 years,” Chapa told the Pillar, saying, “I was there in the rain, or heat — sometimes it was 105 degrees and we were there — from 7 in the morning until like 1. That’s when the abortionist would leave, on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.”
This serves as an example that prayer moves mountains!
“… Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” Matthew 17:20
After praying and sidewalk counseling for years outside Whole Woman’s Health, Chapa has now already served thousands of women at the McAllen Pregnancy Center.
“This is a huge victory for the Lord,” she said. “Because we did nothing. He did it all. It will be a place of resurrection, right?”
We express our deep gratitude to everyone at the McAllen Pregnancy Center and the South Texas community for their unwavering commitment to prayer, counseling, and supporting women and future generations. This inspiring story serves as a powerful reminder that no obstacle is too big when we place our trust in the strength of our mighty God.
