Horrifying allegations have come to light in Omaha, Nebraska, where a former high school security guard and basketball coach has been accused of sexually assaulting an underage student. After she became pregnant, the guard is accused of posing as her father and forcing her to undergo an abortion at Planned Parenthood.
According to the Omaha World-Herald, Ronald L. Powell, 52, was arrested on charges of two counts of first-degree sexual assault of a child. The victim, now 21, alleged that the crimes began in 2015 when she was just 15 years old. The sexual assault occurred on school property and later in various hotel rooms.
After first demanding sexual intercourse, Powell allegedly gave the teen Plan B in an attempt to prevent pregnancy. When she became pregnant in April 2017, Powell coerced her to abort the preborn child. The World-Herald reports, “The woman told police that Powell pretended to be her father and took her to Planned Parenthood to obtain an abortion pill, something that later was corroborated by medical records.”
Coerced abortion at the hands of sexual predators is common. As the largest abortion business in the nation, Planned Parenthood commits many of the abortions that further victimize underage girls suffering from abuse. Despite this, Planned Parenthood continues to receive taxpayer dollars for the few legitimate health services they provide. While our hard-earned tax money goes to the abortion giant, Planned Parenthood kills the preborn babies of abuse victims and empowers the perpetrator.
Planned Parenthood has claimed for years that abortion mill staff are trained to recognize victims of human trafficking and abuse. Undercover investigations have shown that the predatory abortion industry is all too willing to ignore clearly suspicious behavior that endangers young girls. Planned Parenthood has also failed to follow mandatory reporting requirements. Many documented cases show abortion businesses returning victims to the arms of their abusers. Afterward, they endure further months or years of abuse before the crimes are addressed.
Powell’s alleged victim was not helped by the abortion industry. In addition to the trauma and pain she suffered for years, there is also a baby killed by the criminal cooperation of Planned Parenthood. Despite the alleged perpetrator going with the victim to the abortion mill and pretending to be her father, the abortion industry failed to investigate the suspicious situation leading to years more of abuse.
According to police, the investigation has found corroborating evidence of Powell’s alleged crimes. He is currently being held without bail. Sadly, in the years since Powell’s rape and coercion of the victim who has come forward, he has continued to work as a basketball coach and security guard, though his suspicious conduct led to his firing. According to police, Powell “would groom young girls by promising to help them get a college scholarship.” School administration and local authorities have urged other victims to come forward, regardless of how much time has passed since the crimes.
The woman who came forward said she felt as though Powell had taken away her high school experience, and she decided to come forward to “make sure he does not do this to any other young girls.” Because the abortion industry covered up the evidence of Powell’s crimes and failed to protect an innocent victim, years passed before the young woman had the courage to come forward. The adults who should have protected her instead ended the life of her preborn child and gave her back to the abuser.
Pro-Lifers have warned for decades that the abortion industry is the best friend of sexual predators. The horrifying allegations recently made in Omaha are further evidence of this fact. Children are the first victims of the abortion industry, whether preborn or young teens.
